ASUS PA32KCX – the world's first 8K HDR monitor goes on sale!

Calendar 10/16/2025

ASUS PA32KCX – the world’s first 8K HDR monitor with 4032 miniLED zones, 1200 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision support.

ASUS has just launched the first professional 8K monitor with HDR support. The ProArt PA32KCX model features a 32-inch display, a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, miniLED backlighting with 4032 zones, and brightness reaching up to 1200 nits. It sounds like equipment from the future – and in a way, it really is.

8K finally for professionals

Although 8K has not yet entered the mainstream, before it appears in our living rooms, tools are needed that will allow creators to actually work with such resolution.

That is precisely the goal of ASUS PA32KCX – a monitor designed for editors, colourists, photographers, and graphic designers who need to see every detail.

On the 32-inch screen, we have over 33 million pixels, which translates to a density of 275 PPI. The panel is a 10-bit IPS LCD with miniLED backlighting (4032 local dimming zones). The maximum brightness reaches 1200 nits, while the typical brightness is 1000 nits, with 97% DCI-P3 and 99% AdobeRGB coverage. The monitor is delivered factory calibrated, but it can also be hardware re-calibrated thanks to the built-in colour meter and compatibility with Calman and Light Illusion.

Full HDR support – including Dolby Vision

ASUS advertises the PA32KCX as the first 8K monitor with true HDR. It supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, and the number of 4032 local dimming zones is indeed impressive. In practice, each zone controls about 8200 pixels – this is far more precise backlighting than in typical miniLED screens. How will this translate into real-world results? That will only become clear in tests, but the specifications offer reasons for optimism.

Ports, Features and Ergonomics

On board, we find everything you would expect from ProArt class equipment:

  • 2× Thunderbolt 4 (96 W Power Delivery, daisy chain)

  • 1× DisplayPort 2.1

  • 2× HDMI 2.1

  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub

  • KVM Switch

  • VRR (Adaptive-Sync)

  • HDR Preview

  • ProArt Preset modes (including sRGB, AdobeRGB, BT.2020, DCI, Dolby Vision)

There is also a light sensor, proximity sensor, height adjustment and pivot, as well as built-in 2×3 W speakers.

Price? We do not know yet, but it won't be cheap

ASUS announces the premiere in October 2025, and the price – although still undisclosed – will certainly not be low. This is equipment for professionals that will finally enable real work in 8K HDR, not just its simulation.

If Dell was a pioneer of 8K resolution in 2017, then ASUS PA32KCX may become the first monitor to actually show why all this 8K was created.
