ASUS has launched the ROG Gjallar soundbar. The model is aimed primarily at gamers but can also serve as the main audio system for a TV. The device offers 2.1.2-channel sound with Dolby Atmos support, a wireless subwoofer and an additional control panel. For now the product has gone on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its price is €599.90 (roughly GBP 515,00 at a simple conversion). ASUS has not yet announced an official Polish price or an availability date for our country.
Soundbar with HDMI 2.1
ROG Gjallar uses four 50 mm full-range drivers, two tweeters and two up-firing channels. The low end is handled by a wireless subwoofer with a 6.5-inch, 65 W driver. The system uses a 5 GHz wireless connection. It features HDMI 2.1 with eARC, which also supports video passthrough at 4K/120 Hz. There are also USB-C, two USB-A ports, an optical input, an AUX input and Bluetooth 5.3. The soundbar can be connected to, among other devices, a TV, a PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
Separate panel with microphones
One interesting feature of the system is a small control panel with an LCD screen. It lets you change the audio source, adjust the equaliser and switch between profiles tailored for gaming, music and films. The panel also houses microphones with echo cancellation. They're a nod to gamers, but the only question is how many of them would choose a soundbar for voice communication?
