Lenovo has announced a new gaming monitor that may interest gamers seeking a high refresh rate without spending a lot of money. The Lenovo LOQ 25-10 offers an IPS Full HD panel with a 280 Hz refresh rate and a 1 ms response time. The manufacturer has not yet provided a price or a release date.
Cheap monitor for gamers
The Lenovo LOQ 25-10 is equipped with a 24.5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The monitor's biggest selling point is its refresh rate of 280 Hz. This specification is aimed primarily at players of fast-paced titles such as Counter-Strike, Valorant or Fortnite. A high refresh rate allows the display to show more frames per second, provided the PC can generate them. The monitor also offers a stated 1 ms GtG response time and AMD FreeSync Premium, which is intended to reduce screen tearing during gaming.
Full HD, 10-bit colour and 300 nits
The panel is claimed to cover 99% of the sRGB colour space and offers a 10-bit colour depth implemented as 8-bit + FRC. Typical brightness is 300 cd/m², with a contrast ratio of 1100:1. Lenovo also claims support for HDR10, but at 300 cd/m² and without local dimming it is hard to expect an HDR effect comparable to monitors equipped with Mini LED or OLED. For this model, HDR should therefore be regarded more as an extra feature than its main selling point.
Price could be the biggest selling point
Lenovo has not yet revealed the price of the LOQ 25-10. According to PRAD estimates, the monitor may cost around €120 to €130, which converts to roughly GBP 100 before taxes, margins and price differences. However, this is only an estimate and not an official manufacturer price. If Lenovo does keep the price this low, the LOQ 25-10 could be an interesting option for gamers who primarily need a high refresh rate for esports, rather than 1440p resolution or an OLED panel.
