Microsoft has once again prepared a roundup of the most interesting indie games available on Xbox. As part of the Indie Selects programme the company has singled out five titles that should particularly appeal to fans of original ideas and unconventional gameplay. July’s selection includes challenging action games, atmospheric adventures and titles focused on relaxing gameplay.
Five games Xbox recommends for July
This year’s Indie Selects line-up features five very different titles. The first is Mina the Hollower, a retro action game inspired by classic adventure games, with a challenging combat system and a dark atmosphere. The second is Realm of Ink, a dynamic roguelite notable for its striking visuals inspired by Chinese ink painting and its rapid combat. Also on the list is Bellwright, which blends survival, settlement-building and strategy elements. Players develop their own settlement, manage its inhabitants and gradually build an army to face opponents. Fans of a quieter experience can pick up Coffee Talk Tokyo, a narrative game set in a late-night café where preparing drinks is woven together with conversations with memorable characters.
Not just RPGs and strategy. Basketball made the list too
The final featured title is NBA The Run, an arcade-style basketball game inspired by street basketball. The game focuses on fast online matches, flashy plays and short tournaments featuring NBA stars and fictional players. The Indie Selects programme is updated every month and is designed to help players discover lesser-known but highly rated indie titles. Microsoft emphasises that the July line-up includes games offering varied gameplay, a distinctive style and a high level of polish.
Microsoft has published the July Indie Selects list, which includes: Mina the Hollower, Realm of Ink, Bellwright, Coffee Talk Tokyo and NBA The Run. All of the titles are now available on Xbox consoles.
