Nvidia is returning to laptops. Its own Arm processors could hit the market later this year.

Calendar 2/23/2026

The personal computer market may be on the brink of one of its biggest changes in a decade. Nvidia is preparing to return to the consumer laptop segment, but this time not just as a supplier of graphics cards. The company is working on its own system-on-a-chip processors based on Arm architecture, which are set to integrate CPU, GPU, and AI acceleration into a single chip.

Laptops with an "all-in-one" design

New processors are set to be designed with a focus on thin, energy-efficient laptops capable of handling advanced AI features without the need for constant cloud support. According to reports, major manufacturers, including Dell and Lenovo, are already working on the first prototypes. Nvidia's strategy clearly echoes the success of Apple Silicon. Apple, with its own chips in MacBooks, has established a new standard for performance with low energy consumption. Nvidia aims to achieve a similar effect in the Windows world by offering a unified architecture optimised for AI and graphics.

AI in the Spotlight

The entire PC industry is currently moving towards the so-called AI PC, meaning computers capable of local processing tasks such as image generation, language analysis, or model inference directly on the device. The integration of dedicated AI units in a single SoC could give Nvidia an advantage, especially in creative and professional applications. However, the first devices may face typical challenges of first-generation platforms, including software optimisation and thermal management. Support from application developers and adjustments to the Windows system for the new architecture will also be crucial.

According to information first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the first laptops featuring Nvidia processors could appear by the end of the year, with broader availability expected in 2026. If the project proves successful, Nvidia could become a significant player in the CPU segment and dramatically reshuffle the balance of power in the PC world.

Nvidia no longer wants to be just a supplier of graphics cards. Its own Arm processors for laptops are an attempt to enter direct competition with Intel, AMD, and Apple. If the company repeats its success from the AI market, it could be one of the most significant changes in the personal computer industry in years.
