Netflix and cinema at the end of the weekend.

Calendar 5/10/2026

The weekend is slowly coming to an end, but streaming platforms and cinemas still have plenty to attract viewers. This time, three very different productions are drawing attention: a dark thriller from Netflix, a survival horror, and an emotional drama. Each of these films targets entirely different emotions, but all of them look exceptionally interesting.

Netflix returns to the dark world of "The Chestnut Man"

The Chestnut Man is back with a new story titled "Hide and Seek." The series once again focuses on the heavy Scandinavian atmosphere, brutal criminal puzzles, and psychological tension. The production had already gained significant popularity due to its oppressive atmosphere and the very unsettling motif of mysterious chestnut figures left at crime scenes. The new trailer suggests an even darker story and a greater emphasis on psychological horror. Netflix clearly wants to continue developing the brand as one of the strongest European thriller series in its offerings. If someone enjoys Nordic noir and atmospheres reminiscent of "Mindhunter" or "The Killing," it is definitely worth keeping this premiere on your radar.

Horror “Send Help” and emotional “Layla” also attract attention

The second interesting title is Send Help, a new survival horror that will hit cinemas at the end of January. The film focuses on the fight for survival and heavily emphasises tension and a claustrophobic atmosphere. From the trailer, it’s clear that the creators are attempting to blend a classic thriller with a more psychological approach to horror.

A completely different vibe is offered by Layla from 2024. This LGBTQ+ drama tells the story of searching for one’s identity, relationships, and life between various cultural worlds. The film has received a lot of positive reviews for its authenticity and emotional tone, and the new trailer once again reminds viewers looking for more intimate cinema about this production.

At the end of the weekend, there's definitely no shortage of intriguing trailers. Netflix is back with the dark "Chestnut Man", cinemas are gearing up for the survival horror "Send Help", and "Layla" reminds us of strong emotional dramas. There's something here for everyone.
