FFalcon (affiliated with TCL) has put new TVs from the Crane 6 2027 series on sale in China. The range includes two lines, the entry-level Crane 6 and the much more powerful Crane 6 Ultra. The latter can reach up to 6000 nits of brightness, features up to 3,456 local dimming zones and an 80 W audio system. Prices in China start at the equivalent of about A$1,020(simple conversion).
6000 nits and thousands of Mini LED zones
The most interesting model is, of course, the FFalcon Crane 6 Ultra 2027. The TV uses Mini LED backlighting, and depending on the screen size the number of local dimming zones ranges from 1,680 to 3,456. The 85-inch variant has 2,448 zones. For comparison, the predecessor had 1,056 zones at the same size. The manufacturer also claims very high peak brightness. The 75- and 85-inch Crane 6 Ultra can reach 6,000 nits, while the 65- and 98-inch versions reach 5,000 nits. Those are peak brightness figures, so they shouldn't be taken as the brightness of the whole screen during normal viewing. The TV offers 4K resolution and a 150 Hz refresh rate. There's also a DLG mode that can increase the rate to 300 Hz. It also features four HDMI 2.1 ports.
80 W and Dolby Atmos
FFalcon didn't stop at improving the picture. The Crane 6 Ultra 2027 features an expanded 4.1.2 audio system with a total output of 80 W. The package consists of seven drivers, including speakers for the height channels and a subwoofer. Onkyo again handles the sound tuning. That means the manufacturer is trying to create a TV that, straight out of the box, will offer not only a large, bright picture but also more elaborate spatial sound. It won't replace a full home theatre system, of course, but 80 W and a 4.1.2 setup look interesting for a built-in audio system.

98 inches for around A$2,600
Crane 6 Ultra 2027 comes in four sizes: 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches. In China, prices after available discounts and surcharges are 4,499, 5,499, 6,999 and 11,499 yuan, respectively. That’s about A$1,020, A$1,255, A$1,570, and A$2,590 after a simple conversion. Of course, that doesn't mean the TVs would cost that much if they were launched in Europe. That amount would need to include, among other things, taxes, transport, the distributor's margin and any import costs. FFalcon has not announced a European launch for this series yet.
The series has not been announced for Europe, but if it were to appear here, we could expect a TV with a decent price-to-performance ratio.
