Matte OLED not just from Samsung. TCL introduces NXTPAPER to AMOLED displays.

Calendar 3/16/2026

Until now, matte screens in OLED technology were mainly associated with flagship Samsung televisions (such as the OLED S95F). However, TCL decided to challenge this solution by integrating its proprietary NXTPAPER layer with organic panels but... in mobile devices.

NXTPAPER on AMOLED display

The new generation of screens from TCL uses what's known as circular polarisation of light and hardware reduction of blue light emissions. The most important element, however, is the anti-reflective layer (Anti-Glare), which has been applied directly to the AMOLED panel. According to the manufacturer, a special nanolithographic matrix and a new light uniforming film have been used here. In practice, it simply disperses sunlight in such a way that the screen resembles a sheet of paper while maintaining the high contrast typical of OLED diodes.

Paper Texture through Nanolithography

The exceptional appearance and "touch" of the new screen are due to an advanced nanolithographic layer and a new light homogenising film. These components together replicate the texture of real paper. The system has been enhanced with a feature for adaptive reading optimisation, which automatically adjusts the colour temperature and screen parameters to the environment, simulating the appearance of a book page depending on whether we are sitting by a bedside lamp or on the terrace. The new screens are set to be included in the upcoming tablets and smartphones from the manufacturer.
