As reported by the flatpanelshd service following the presentation of the first televisions and speakers with the wireless audio platform FlexConnect from Dolby during the CES 2026 trade show, LG is now starting to roll out an update for selected models from 2025 as well. As was reported at the end of last year, the feature was set to be available for older devices in the form of a software update and that is indeed happening. This means that support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect will not be reserved exclusively for the latest televisions from 2026, but will also be available in some models from last year.
Wireless Dolby Atmos
Thanks to Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology, if it is supported by both the TV and the speakers, it is possible to wirelessly connect the soundbar, subwoofer, and additional front or rear speakers directly to the TV. The whole setup operates without cables, and the system automatically delivers Dolby Atmos surround sound. As reported by LG, up to four speakers and one subwoofer can be connected to a single TV. The manufacturer is also introducing the first audio devices compatible with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect — including the M7 soundbar, compact M5 and M7 speakers, and W7 subwoofer.
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect also appears in newer TCL televisions and competes with other wireless audio systems such as Sonos, DTS Play-Fi, and Q-Symphony from Samsung. At launch, the solution mainly works within devices of the same brand, although support for speakers from other manufacturers may be possible in the future. To use FlexConnect, software version 33.30.92 or 33.30.80 is required, available through a system update or installation from a USB drive. This feature will be available on models such as LG G5 and LG C5, which we have tested for you.
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect allows you to wirelessly connect your LG TV to speakers and a subwoofer, without the need for running cables or precisely positioning the equipment. It's a convenient solution for those who want to achieve immersive home theatre sound without complicated installation.
