Hisense is increasingly stepping into the UST projector segment, and the latest model PT1 Triple Laser Cinema shows that it's possible to combine great picture quality with a reasonable price. It's equipment that will allow you to create a home cinema without having to spend a fortune.
Ultra Short Throw with enormous flexibility
PT1 is an ultra-short-throw projector, which means you only need to place it a few centimetres from the wall or screen to get an image from 80 up to 150 inches. An ideal solution for the lounge, where there isn't always room for a traditional ceiling-mounted projector.
Image and colours better than many TVs
Hisense promises 2,500 ANSI lumens – in practice, this means comfortable movie watching during the day, provided we close the curtains. Additionally, it offers up to 110% coverage of the BT.2020 palette, resulting in colours that are more vibrant and accurate than in many televisions. A contrast of 3,000:1 guarantees that both bright and dark scenes will be rich in detail.
System and support for the latest formats
The version for the British market runs on the VIDAA U7.6 system, while in the USA – on Google TV, which means it could be one of the first projectors with built-in artificial intelligence Gemini (though this is yet to be confirmed). It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced, and in terms of sound, we find Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with built-in speakers of 46 W (with upward-firing speakers).
AI, movie mode and 240 Hz gaming
It comes with plenty of intelligent solutions: DLP pixel shifting, 4K AI Upscaler, and Filmmaker Mode for film purists. MEMC enhances motion fluidity, making it suitable for both sports and gaming. And speaking of gaming – HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM, and a 12 ms input lag are specs that will satisfy even the most demanding gamers.
The projector supports Google Assistant (for now) and Alexa, has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and USB ports. It also supports Control4, so it can be integrated into a smart home system.
Price that impresses
The biggest surprise? Hisense PT1 starts at £1,999 (around $2,999 in the USA), but during promotions, it can be bought for as low as £1,699. This price point positions it as one of the most competitive UST projectors on the market.
For comparison, the flagship model Hisense L9Q Laser TV costs as much as £4,000 (around $6,000), offering a brighter image (5,000 ANSI lumens) and a larger format up to 200 inches, but for most people, the price difference is key.
