Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS670 – bright UST 4K projector with Bose sound and Google TV. The perfect TV replacement for your living room.

Epson has decided to make a strong entry into the ultra-short-throw projector market, challenging the competition. The latest Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS670 is designed to deliver a cinematic experience in the living room – and without the need to spend a fortune.

120 inches from a distance of a few centimetres

The LS670 can project a 4K image with a diagonal of up to 120 inches, and as it is a UST projector, it only needs to be placed a few centimetres from the wall or screen. Epson has based the device on the 4K Pro-UHD engine and 3LCD laser technology, offering up to 3,600 lumens of brightness (both white and colour). This means that even during the day, you can expect a vivid, saturated image.

Importantly, the projector uses pixel-shifting, so it is not native 4K (4 million pixels instead of 8 million), but Epson promises excellent results with 10-bit colour processing, support for HDR10 and HLG, and a dynamic contrast of 5,000,000:1.

Epson is also targeting gamers with this projector – it supports 240 Hz and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), ensuring smooth and responsive gameplay. There are 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports available, so you can easily connect consoles and other devices.

Sound from Bose and Google TV on board

There is also solid sound. The audio system was created in collaboration with Bose – we have two full-range speakers and a subwoofer with pleasant bass. The sound can be expanded with ARC support or by connecting a wireless karaoke speaker.

Everything runs on Google TV, so we can easily launch Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, or other streaming services. Wireless screen mirroring from a smartphone is also available.

One minor drawback – setup via app

Not everything is perfect. Unlike many competitors, the LS670 doesn't have automatic setup sensors. Instead, you have to use a smartphone app that adjusts the image geometry with the camera. Focus is also adjusted manually. It's a bit less convenient, but it shouldn't be a problem for most users.

Price and Comparison with Competitors

Epson has priced the Lifestudio Grand EH-LS670 at A$4,365. This is more than the recently launched Hisense PT1 Triple Laser Cinema (A$4,200), but the Epson model offers significantly higher brightness (3,600 vs 2,500 lumens), which will translate to a much better picture during the day. For many people, the A$165 difference will be entirely justified.
