Epson has unveiled three new projectors in its Home Cinema series. The LS5000, LS6000 and LS7500 use a laser light source and 3LCD technology. All support a 120 Hz refresh rate and display 4K images using pixel shift.
Epson LS5000, LS6000 and LS7500
The new series includes three models that mainly differ in brightness and installation options. LS5000 offers 2500 lumens, LS6000 3400 lumens, and the most expensive LS7500 3500 lumens. All projectors use three LCD panels. They are not native 4K projectors. That high a resolution is achieved by rapidly shifting the image generated by the panels (pixel shifting), allowing the projector to show more detail than standard Full HD. Epson also had console owners in mind; each model supports a 120 Hz refresh rate.

LS7500 with a short-throw lens
Most eye-catching, unsurprisingly, is the most expensive model. The LS7500 has a short-throw lens, which lets you place the projector closer to the screen than the LS5000 and LS6000. It's not, however, an ultra-short-throw (UST) design. That matters for smaller rooms that can easily be converted into a home theatre. With a standard projector you might need to place the unit several metres from the wall. That gives you a lot of flexibility when positioning the equipment. The LS7500 is also the brightest model.
Prices and availability
In the United States, the LS5000 costs US$1,999.99, the LS6000 costs US$2,199.99 and the LS7500 costs US$2,699.99. Epson plans to begin sales as early as late September. For now we haven't received Polish prices or a release date for our market.
