55-inch TVs – Test Rankings

Available screen sizes: 43”, 55”

Technology: LCD VA, PFS LED

Brand: DREAME

Verdict:

The Dreame Q100 is the manufacturer's entry-level model, and its price alone hints at what to expect. It’s not a TV that tries to win on picture quality. Its strengths lie elsewhere: it has Google TV, surprisingly many features for gamers, and costs relatively little. In terms of picture, the Q100 performs similarly to many other TVs in this price range. The VA panel provides decent contrast, and ...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: XIAOMI

Verdict:

In the smaller sizes (55 to 75 inches) the Xiaomi S Mini 2026 leaves a really good impression, provided you judge it from the start based on what it costs. Mini LED technology here does exactly what we expect: it builds strong contrast and produces HDR brightness high enough that movie sessions gain a completely different dynamic than on conventional TVs in this price range. Add Google TV to that ...

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

The LG OLED B6 is a very successful continuation of the B series and a TV that makes a lot of sense as a first step into OLED. It doesn't try to compete with the most expensive models in every respect, but on the most important points it still delivers exactly what many people choose the technology for: perfect black, very high contrast, and a picture that can simply look spectacular in movies. Th...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

LG MRGB85 is a TV that feels most at home in the hands of gamers and people attached to the webOS ecosystem. In that respect it’s hard to fault. It offers a lot of advantages for gamers thanks to a very high refresh rate panel. On top of that there’s a smooth webOS experience that stands out on the market mainly because of the convenient Magic remote and a full set of features for traditional TV. ...

Available screen sizes: 42”, 48”, 55”, 65”, 83”

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

Samsung S90H is a TV that simply makes a spectacular impression. The combination of OLED's absolute blacks, high brightness, and excellent motion sharpness delivers a picture that's hard to look away from. And that's exactly what we expect from a good OLED TV. The matte anti-reflective coating also works very well. Reflections on a sunny day stop being a major problem, and thanks to the presence o...

Technology: QD-OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung S99H is probably the best OLED TV we’ve tested so far, and certainly the best Samsung OLED in years. In terms of picture quality it’s really hard to find a weak point. Black levels are perfect, as you’d expect from an OLED panel, and HDR performance impresses with brightness and color saturation. Using a QD-OLED panel delivers an image that in many scenes looks almost reference-grade. ...

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung QN80H is a very successful mid-range TV, and in our view that's exactly how it should be seen. Not as a new Neo QLED flagship, but as the first model in Samsung's lineup that gives a clear taste of better picture quality. Full Mini LED backlighting, high brightness, and well-saturated colors mean that for someone moving up from a regular LCD TV the difference can be significant. A huge...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

The TCL A400 Pro is one of the most interesting lifestyle TVs we've tested so far. And not because it turns the whole idea of the "TV as a picture" upside down. In that regard it does roughly what the competition does: it should look good, blend into the interior, and not be just another black slab in the living room. Its real strength lies elsewhere: in picture quality. It's the first TV of this ...

Available screen sizes: 55”, 65”, 77”, 83”, 97”

Technology: WRGB OLED, WRGB TANDEM OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

There’s no doubt the LG G6 is outstanding in places. Thanks to the new 2nd-generation Tandem OLED panel it does something no other glossy-screen display on the market has managed so far: it suppresses reflections brilliantly while keeping perfect, untouched picture quality. Add record brightness and the panel’s unique characteristics, and the G6 can produce images that at times literally knock you...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED Super QLED (SQD)

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

TCL C8L is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing Mini-LED TVs to come into our lab this year. This model stands out primarily due to its excellent price-to-capability ratio. TCL has accustomed us to aggressive pricing of its screens, but in the case of the C8 series, the manufacturer has managed to push the boundaries even further. For the amount that often allows just the purchase of mid-range m...
