The best Sony TVs – which models are worth buying now?

Calendar 6/2/2025

Sony is a brand that needs no introduction – for years it has been associated with high quality, technological precision, and refined visuals. And although in recent years brands like TCL and Hisense have been making significant inroads, Sony remains one of the most valued TV manufacturers in the world – especially among those who prioritize cinematic experiences, natural colors, and smooth motion.

The 2024 lineup turned out to be exceptionally well-crafted. Sony unveiled both high-end Mini-LED models and top-tier OLEDs, as well as several more affordable options. But how do they stack up against the competition? Which models are worth considering? In 2025, many of these televisions will make their way to the first sales – opening up the chance to purchase high-end models at more attractive prices.

In our roundup, we take a closer look at the Sony TVs that you may want to choose.

🏆 Best Sony TV 2024

🏆 Best Mini-LED TV

Sony Bravia 9 is a television that sets new standards for Mini-LED technology in 2024. Right from the first tests, it was clear that the Japanese manufacturer is not going to give way to the competition – this model is a concrete response to the strongest constructions from LG and Samsung, but with Sony's characteristic approach to image quality.

Bravia 9 offers very high brightness, excellent contrast, and deep blacks, all of which combine to create a truly cinematic picture. The XR processor does a remarkable job and handles low-quality content exceptionally well. Additionally, there is full integration with Google TV, excellent support for gaming features (HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM). This is undoubtedly the best LCD television from Sony ever created – and if you have the budget to afford a top model, the Bravia 9 will be a purchase for years to come. Ideal for home cinema, but also for everyday use at a very, very high level.

Great Mini-LED for the Reasonable

Sony Bravia 7

🏆 Great picture from the lower premium tier

🏆 A very good alternative to Bravia 9

Sony Bravia 7 is a proposal for those who want a picture close to the flagship, but without spending a fortune. This is a Mini-LED television that utilizes the same image processing technologies as the higher models, including the XR processor and local dimming, which makes the image quality very similar to Bravia 9. Sure – it doesn’t reach the same maximum brightness and doesn’t have such good viewing angles, but for most users, the differences won’t be worth the nearly double price. This television is great for both everyday watching and evening Netflix sessions. The TV is equipped like other SONY models with Google TV, which runs smoothly. Additionally, full support for HDMI 2.1 and VRR makes it a sensible choice for gamers too! If you don’t care about absolute maximum performance and want to save a significant amount compared to Bravia 9 – Bravia 7 is a home run.

Best OLED SONY

Sony A95L

🏆 Best Sony OLED

🏆 Best OLED with Google TV

Sony A95L is the most advanced OLED in the manufacturer's lineup for 2024. It is based on a QD-OLED panel, which provides very high brightness for a TV of this type as well as a wide color gamut. The black – as expected from OLED – is perfect, and the image appears exceptionally clean and detailed even in challenging scenes. It is also the best choice for those who want to combine OLED quality with the convenience of Google TV. The system works smoothly, provides access to all the most important applications, and integrates well with the smart ecosystem. The A95L supports Dolby Vision, has very low input lag, and full support for features such as VRR and HGiG – so it is also suitable for gaming, although its price and characteristics are rather geared towards users focused on movie watching. The A95L model is not cheap and it's hard to consider it a proposition for everyone, but for those looking for the best possible OLED with Google TV, it is a very serious contender – especially now, as it starts to appear at lower prices before the release of the Sony BRAVIA 8 II.

Best SONY TV in the mid-range price segment

SONY X90L

🏆 Best SONY TV in the mid-range price category

Sony X90L is one of those models that proves you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy very good picture quality. The TV offers a classic design with FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) backlighting, which allows for good blacks. Although it is not Mini-LED, the X90L still outperforms most of the competition in a similar price range due to its very good processor. For those who enjoy movie screenings and expect color fidelity and even backlighting, X90L will be a very good option. And although it is not the perfect TV for gamers, it still has support for PS5 – HDMI 2.1, VRR, and low input lag make it suitable for console gaming as well. The X90L is simply a well-priced TV with a cinematic flair that can be the ideal compromise between quality and a reasonably affordable price.

Best Cheap TV SONY

Sony X75WL

🏆 Best Cheap Sony TV

Sony X75WL is the lowest model in the offering of the Japanese manufacturer, which tries to fill the budget segment – but one must honestly say that it is not a particularly successful attempt. Sony is not known for its lower-priced TVs, and unfortunately, this is evident here. The X75WL performs average compared to the competition at a similar price – blacks are shallow, brightness is low, and image quality in the evening leaves much to be desired.

This is a model that may interest those very attached to the Sony brand, who value the Google TV system and wide viewing angles resulting from the use of an IPS panel. In everyday use – watching the news, YouTube, or series in a bright room – it will perform decently. But if you are not a loyal fan of the Japanese manufacturer, it's better to look for competitive models that simply offer more at this price.

One could say that this is the "best cheap Sony TV," but only because Sony… practically does not make cheap TVs.

Sony Bravia: great quality, less great prices

There’s no denying it – Sony does not make cheap televisions. And when they do create something budget-friendly, it unfortunately usually feels like it's not their natural environment. This is evident in the X75WL model, which is hard to defend against the competition, especially when looking at it through the lens of price. But when Sony steps onto its own turf – the mid-range and high-end – things get really interesting. The Bravia 9 or A95L are top-tier devices, featuring the image quality characteristic of this brand. Even the "older" X90L, as a cheaper alternative, surprises with its quality and can be the perfect compromise for many people.

If you’re looking for something special and have the right budget – Sony still knows how to make a great television. And if not? Then it might be better to take a look at something from our list of TCL or Hisense. But who knows – maybe next year’s Bravia line will bring something nice for the more budget-conscious?
