Calendar 12/8/2025

Sony Bravia 9 II and 7 II with True RGB technology – leaked specs reveal next-gen RGB-LED TVs. Check out peak brightness up to 4000 nits, as many as 15,000 local dimming zones, and screen sizes reaching up to 115 inches.

Leaks regarding the upcoming Sony televisions with RGB-LED technology have surfaced online, which the Japanese are likely to introduce to the market under the name “True RGB”. This time, the source of the information is Chinese blogger Salivaxiu Zhang, who analyzed Sony's trademark registration application in Canada and Japan.

What is "True RGB"?

Sony has filed a trademark application for the name "True RGB" for televisions, LED displays, and video equipment. Everything indicates that this is how the new Sony televisions based on true RGB (red, green, and blue) diodes, rather than standard white mini-LEDs with color filters, will be called. This type of backlighting is expected to provide:

  • higher brightness than classic Mini-LED,

  • greater contrast levels thanks to the precise operation of each color,

  • more accurate colors without losing energy on filters,

  • the potential to .

Samsung is developing its own name "Micro RGB," so Sony is clearly preparing a response.

Bravia 9 II (RGB-LED – flagship)

  • 75 inches

  • 85 inches

  • 98 inches

Impressive Parameters

Zhang also revealed the first leaks regarding the specifications of the new televisions. If confirmed at the premiere, Sony is preparing the biggest quality leap in many years.

Bravia 7 II

  • Peak Brightness: 2,000 – 2,500 nits

  • Dimming Zones: approx. 5,100 Mini-LED

  • Technology: True RGB (probably full RGB LEDs, not classic Mini-LED with filter)

Bravia 9 II

  • Peak Brightness: approx. 4,000 nits

  • Dimming Zones: as many as 15,000

  • Segment: top-tier LCD – a potential competitor for QN95D, MX950, and premium OLEDs

Such high brightness values and the number of local dimming zones may indicate enormous progress in HDR, and above all, a significantly reduced halo effect. In particular, 4,000 nits in the Bravia 9 II model places Sony at a level that no Mini-LED television available on the market has achieved so far.

Possible Bravia 5 and Release Date

According to DisplaySpecifications, Sony may add the Bravia 5 model to its lineup – a more affordable option, but for now, there are no concrete details about it. It is also unknown whether the Japanese company will showcase new televisions at the CES 2026 in Las Vegas or opt for its own event a few weeks later, as it has done in previous years.

Sony is preparing a lineup of televisions that could significantly change the LCD market. The True RGB technology appears to be a big step forward compared to classic Mini-LEDs, and the initial specifications – particularly 15,000 zones and a brightness of 4,000 nits – place the Bravia 9 II among the potentially strongest televisions of 2026. If these leaks are confirmed, Sony is returning to a technological offensive after years of cautious releases.
