Samsung returns to 3D. 120 games already in 2026, but there is a catch.

Calendar 3/23/2026

Samsung is trying to revive 3D technology again, this time in a completely different form. Instead of televisions, the company is focusing on glasses-free gaming monitors, and the plan looks ambitious with up to 120 compatible games by the end of 2026.

3D gaming is making a comeback, but in a new form

The first Samsung monitor featuring glasses-free 3D and eye tracking debuted in 2025. At launch, it practically worked with just one game, but the manufacturer quickly began to expand the library. Today, there are already talks of over 60 titles, including The First Berserker, Stellar Blade, and Lies of P. The list continues to grow with additional productions like Hell Is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn. Samsung aims for over 120 3D games by the end of 2026, which shows that the project is not a one-time experiment but a real attempt to rebuild the market.

Big problem: most games are workarounds

Sounds good, but there is one serious downside. Only a few games work natively with full eye tracking support. The rest rely on the UEVR solution, which "converts" Unreal Engine games to 3D. The effect works, but it is still a stopgap. Importantly, eye tracking is missing, which is crucial for a credible depth effect. This makes the experience often not match what is offered by, for example, VR headsets.

Samsung made a surprisingly good start, considering the history of failure of 3D televisions. The hardware works, the library is growing, and the roadmap even includes 6K and future 3D OLED panels. For now, however, it is still a technology in a transitional phase. If the company does not improve quality and does not focus on native game support, the project may get stuck in a niche. The next 2–3 years will show whether 3D will actually return to favor or remain a curiosity for enthusiasts.
