We saw the new line of LG TVs for 2026 with our own eyes, and we have some conclusions for you that will somewhat "straighten out" your view on the offerings of the Korean giant. Instead of repeating marketing slides like others do, we prefer to focus on what truly stands out when you are in front of these screens. We start with the model that evokes the most emotions, which is the LG OLED W6!
The design of the LG W6 is P H E N O M E N A L
LG OLED W6. This model, known as a wallpaper television, returns to the portfolio after several years and we must admit it makes a stunning impression in person. This is a top-of-the-line device – Premium with a capital P.
The most striking aspect is its slimness: according to the manufacturer's data, its thickness is just under 9.9 mm. For comparison, we lined it up with the latest iPhone, and it turns out that the phone can be thicker in some places. To ensure that such a thin screen adheres perfectly to the wall, it is mounted on two special brackets (each requiring 4 screws). What totally surprised us is the frame of the device – it has been finished with ebony wood. It looks stunning, especially since LG presented it against a glass wall. The ebony is not just for decoration; the wood has excellent thermoconductive properties, which is crucial for cooling such a bright matrix in such an extremely thin construction.
Tandem OLED 2nd gen. enters the scene
Under the hood (or rather under the wood 😉) are specific technological changes. In W6, we will find a new generation of the Tandem OLED (2nd generation) matrix supported by Hyper Diamond Color technology. We didn't rely solely on the manufacturer's claims – we verified it on our test boards.
We have recorded an improvement of about 10% compared to the G5 model in our HDR testing procedure.
In the brightest scenes, the difference reached a maximum of 400 nits compared to the 1st generation Tandem OLED panels.
This is a real progression that is visible to the naked eye. Of course, we are talking more about evolution than revolution, but it's great that LG managed to fit such parameters in such a slim casing.
Our notes: Two downsides you need to know when choosing LG OLED W6
Unfortunate Power Supply
Due to engineering decisions that had to be made during the construction of W6; the power cable exits from the side of the device (on the right side when looking from the back), rather than centrally. This may sound like nitpicking (and you may have a point), but most people prepare cable trays in the middle of the wall. In the W6, there is no space at the back for special channels, so if you want to route the cable to the center, you will have to accept that the TV will protrude minimally from the wall at the bottom edge.
No physical connections
W6 is an almost completely wireless model (excluding power). Everything connects to the new, slimmer Zero Connect module (4 HDMI 2.1 ports). The problem? There is not a single HDMI socket in the television itself.
Our tests of similar solutions from competitors, as well as foreign reviews of the LG M5 wireless model, clearly show that streaming video wirelessly generates an increase in input lag, sometimes even 3 or 4 times compared to wired transmission. Of course, for most users, the difference between 5 ms and 20 ms is practically unnoticeable, and no one is going to throw their controller against the wall because of it. You just have to be aware that this wireless module is not magic. If you place it a few meters further back, behind the couch, and plug your PS5 in there, don't expect the lag to remain at its best level.
But what's the problem if it's not such a big deal?
It's just a shame that LG didn't bother to include even one physical port on the television. We're not even talking about an HDMI port but USB-C with DP (we’ve seen that with competitors), which would allow retaining the slimness of the W6. If such a port were present, gamers would have peace of mind knowing they are always getting the absolute best performance from the W6 that this panel can offer. And without one port on the TV, that certainty is always somewhere just out of reach.
Is it worth waiting for the LG W6?
The LG OLED W6 is phenomenal in many ways. The new 2nd generation Tandem OLED panel guarantees stunning picture quality that will surely impress during the targeted tests in our lab. It could be one of the best, if not the best television of 2026... however, aspiring to such a title means it has to face our strict evaluation 😉. It's important to be aware of certain compromises, such as the specific power installation and the lack of physical connectors, which you just have to accept when choosing this model.
We don't want to bore you with one big block of text (that's what our full review will be for). In the upcoming articles in the "First Impressions" series, we will take a look at other LG models from the 2026 line and new features to sprinkle you with these technical tidbits. And soon, Maciej will record a full report for you, sharing his own thoughts on the entire new LG series!
