If you are on the hunt for a fantastic OLED television, now is the best time to buy one at a record low price. Models that just a few months ago cost as much as several thousand zlotys are now available with discounts of up to 60%.
This applies to both top-tier models and basic versions, which despite their lower price offer the full benefits of OLED technology – namely perfect blacks, infinite contrast, very good motion quality, and excellent colour reproduction.
We realise that the transition from spring to summer is not a time when people mainly spend their time in front of a screen; however, it is that time of year when shops begin to make room for new arrivals, and older models from the 2024 lineup are achieving record low prices. In short: it is the best time to make a purchase.
Best OLED TVs from the sale!
LG G4
This is one of the best – if not the best – televisions of 2024. Thanks to the proprietary OLED MLA technology, the G4 can confidently compete with the top models on the market. A similar panel is used by Panasonic in its Z95A or Philips OLED909, but what sets the LG G4 apart from the competition… is the price.
As of the writing of this article, the G4 is available at a really great offer – prices can be half of what they were on launch day. The LG G4 doesn't need much introduction – it has appeared many times in our rankings. But if this is your first guide, it's worth mentioning that LG is using a self-produced OLED panel, equipped with micro-lenses. Thanks to them, W-OLED panels have achieved brightness that not long ago seemed out of their reach.
Excellent black levels, very high brightness, and stunning colour reproduction make the LG G4 simply one of the best choices in its class. For gamers, it's the ideal television – 144 Hz, lightning-fast response time, full HDMI 2.1. Literally a gaming monster.
If you don't need quite such a high maximum brightness but want to retain most of the advantages of the G4 model, it's worth taking a look at the LG C4. This is also an OLED from 2024, based on the same panel technology but lacking the micro-lens layer. In everyday use, the differences – aside from brightness – are minimal, and choosing this model can result in significant savings.
The C4 also offers perfect blacks, vibrant colours, excellent motion handling, a full set of HDMI 2.1 ports, and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Both televisions operate on the WebOS system, which we are big fans of – it has an intuitive interface, convenient remote control with a gyroscope, and access to all the essential apps. It's also worth mentioning the Re:new program, which allows for system updates and new features to be available for 5 years after launch. So, by purchasing an older model, you won't miss out on any innovations.
Samsung S90D
The model worth considering is the Samsung S90D – a direct competitor to the LG C4, offering very similar properties. In most sizes, it uses the same generation of W-OLED panels. The exception – and the most strongly recommended version – is the 65-inch variant with a QD-OLED panel.
Thanks to it, colour reproduction, viewing angles, and the smoothness of tonal transitions can be compared with much more expensive models, such as the flagship S95D, but at just half its price! QD-OLED also has its downsides like any technology, for example, poorer black levels in external light, but overall, the 65" variant is indeed worth purchasing. What might be a drawback? The lack of Dolby Vision. Samsung focuses on HDR10+, which, although not as popular, is increasingly present on platforms such as Netflix and Disney+.
Cheapest OLEDs from the sale!
Samsung S85D
Samsung has caused quite a stir by releasing this television (S85D), not due to its technical specifications but because of its very attractive price – it can currently be purchased for around 3200 PLN. For comparison – that's often the cost of a standard 120 Hz LCD television without local dimming. Meanwhile, the S85D is a fully-fledged OLED: perfect contrast, excellent motion fluidity and very decent colours – especially after calibration. It's a proposal for those who settle down in the evenings to watch a series, a film or play on a console. The 120 Hz panel, support for motion smoothing technology, which also works in games – all of this means that even on an older generation console, the picture looks better.
LG B4
LG B4 is a direct competitor to S85D – also OLED, but with Dolby Vision, which is lacking in Samsung. If you are keen on this format, B4 will be the better choice. However, beware of prices – if B4 costs as much as C4, it is definitely better to add that £100–200 to C4. But if it is closer to the price of S85D – then it is definitely worth it. It’s a great compromise – with Dolby Vision, full support for gamers and image quality that no LCD offers in this budget.
Great alternatives that could become much cheaper!
Philips OLED809
Although the price of the Philips OLED809 is still often higher than its competitors from Korea, such as the LG C4 or Samsung S90D, it is definitely a model we can recommend. It is one of the few OLEDs from this brand that runs on the Google TV system – instead of the heavily limited Titan OS found in cheaper Philips models. As a result, we gain access to a significantly larger number of applications and better integration with our Google account. The Philips OLED809 is also an exceptional model in terms of aesthetics – primarily due to the Ambilight technology, which can enchant a viewing experience by illuminating the wall behind the television with colours that match the image. For many, this detail will be the deciding factor in choosing a television.
Panasonic Z85A
The Z85A is an OLED from Panasonic, which has been reasonably priced since its launch. The standard price for the 55" variant hovers around 4000 PLN – so we don’t have the classic "paying extra for the brand" scenario here. It’s a model offering a decent image processor, very good black levels, support for gamers, and a panel that competes with other OLEDs in this budget.
However, it's worth being cautious about the availability of apps – the Panasonic Z85A runs on the Amazon Fire TV system, which isn't yet well developed in Europe, particularly in Poland. Therefore, some popular services or apps that are typically available on Google TV or WebOS may be lacking.
Is OLED everything?
As you may have noticed – we have gone through seven models and all of them are OLEDs. There is a reason for that. Year by year, they are becoming cheaper and in terms of quality, they are practically unmatched. Brightness? A bit lower than in Mini LEDs. But black levels, contrast, viewing angles, smoothness – OLED is still in the lead.
Of course, we haven't listed all OLED models here, as that is not the point of this. This does not mean that we do not recommend the others – it simply means that in our opinion, these specific models have decreased in price the most or will soon cost significantly less than the competition and stand out the most among the entire range.
However, if you are interested in other types of televisions, such as Mini LED or would like to see which models of a specific brand we recommend, we also have something for you! In the next article, you will find a review of the best LCD televisions with local dimming. At the bottom of the page, you will also find other rankings and comparisons of models – we warmly invite you!
