Into the Radius 2 will be another major offering for PlayStation VR2 headset owners. The developers promise a significantly expanded version of the survival shooter, in which preparation for each expedition will be crucial. The game will launch first with a full single-player campaign, while a free two-player co-op mode will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026. The title will also make extensive use of the technical capabilities of Sony's headset.
Into the Radius 2 focuses on tactics and detailed equipment
The developers of Into the Radius 2 want to put even more emphasis on preparation and a tactical approach to gameplay. Players will be able to configure their kit very precisely, including vests, backpacks, harnesses and the placement of individual pockets and holsters. This will matter in combat, because the correct placement of items will allow you to reach for a weapon or ammunition more quickly. A lot of attention has also been paid to the rifles and pistols themselves. It will be possible to swap barrels, stocks, sights, grips and magazines. Weapons can also be personalised with over 15 colours and 10 camouflage patterns. The maintenance system will be even more important, because every piece of equipment will have its own levels of wear and dirt. If a player neglects cleaning their weapon, dirty parts can cause the rifle to jam at the most inopportune moment. This is intended to make preparation before the next outing as important as the fight itself. The Pechorsk Zone has also been expanded and given new threats and enemies. The developers also want to use the environment more to tell the story, for example through scattered notes, mysterious artefacts and remnants of people. Altogether this should create a much more demanding and immersive version of the world known from the first instalment.
PS VR2 is set to provide even greater immersion
Into the Radius 2 has been prepared to take advantage of the PlayStation VR2. Adaptive triggers on the Sense controllers will provide varying resistance when using different types of weapons. The haptic feedback in the controllers and headset will convey, among other things, anomaly vibrations and impacts during combat. The game will run at a native 90 frames per second, which should result in smoother movement and aiming. The developers will also use eye tracking and foveated rendering to maintain high image quality. Spatial audio will also play an important role, allowing players to hear approaching threats earlier. Enemies will include, among others, Mimics that can use cover, flank the player and work together. Some anomalies will generate electrical discharges, others may destroy the environment or completely absorb light. An additional challenge will be the periodic Tide, which changes enemy and item placement. This will prevent players from relying on a single, always-safe route. Into the Radius 2 will launch on PS VR2 on 24 September 2026, and a free update adding two-player co-op will arrive in the fourth quarter.
Into the Radius 2 promises to be a considerably more expansive sequel to the survival VR shooter. The developers are focusing on detailed equipment, realistic weapon maintenance, demanding combat and far more unpredictable anomalies. The PS VR2 version will take advantage of Sony's headset features, including haptics, adaptive triggers, 90 FPS, eye tracking and spatial audio. The release will take place on 24 September, while a two-player co-op mode will be added free of charge in Q4 2026.
