Xbox enhances Achievements and finally gives players greater control over their profile and rewards.

Calendar 4/10/2026

Microsoft is starting to test significant changes to the achievements system on Xbox, and it looks like this is one of those updates that players have been waiting for years. The new features are initially being rolled out to the Xbox Insider Program, but it's already clear that this is about more than just cosmetics. Microsoft wants Achievements to be more visible, more personal, and above all, better tailored to how players want to showcase their accomplishments on their profiles. This is a shift in approach – from a simple points system to something closer to a player's calling card.

A new look for achievements and more personalisation make earning trophies much more satisfying at last

One of the most noticeable changes is the refreshed appearance of achievement notifications, which introduces new animations, icons, and colour matching to user settings. It may seem trivial, but in practice, it makes earning achievements feel more like a “reward” rather than just another popup on the screen. Microsoft clearly wants the moment of unlocking an achievement to be more satisfying and visually distinct, especially in the case of rare achievements. This is important, as for years the system was functional but rather devoid of emotions; now this is set to change and resemble the experience known, for example, from PlayStation trophies.

Hiding games and highlighting completed titles gives players control over their profile

A much more important change, however, is the ability to hide games from the achievements list, which was one of the most frequently requested features by the community. Thanks to this, players can remove titles they do not want to display from their profile, such as those they have temporarily tested or unfinished ones. Importantly, Gamerscore still counts, so it’s just a matter of presentation. Additionally, there is the highlighting of games completed at 100%, which allows players to quickly show which titles have been "maxed out". Together, this creates a clearer and more personalised profile that better reflects the user's gaming style rather than just raw numbers.

Xbox is taking a step in the right direction Achievements are finally becoming more than just points and are starting to serve as a real player profile. If Microsoft continues down this path, the system could become one of the strongest elements of the entire ecosystem.
