QD-OLED goes beyond gaming. Samsung M9 is the first herald of a new era!

Discover the Samsung Smart Monitor M9, M8, and M7. OLED, 4K, Tizen, and smart TV features in elegant displays for home, office, and streaming.

OLED is finally no longer just the domain of gamers. In 2025, Samsung will launch the M9 (M90SF) – the first QD-OLED monitor in its Smart Monitor series, which is not aimed at hardcore gamers, but at… the rest of us.

Instead of treating OLED as a luxury addition for e-sports enthusiasts, Samsung proposes something more universal. The M9 is intended to meet the needs of those who want a single screen for everything: watching, browsing, light work, and sometimes – as it happens – a game of something enjoyable.

SAMSUNG Smart M9

Samsung M9 is a 32-inch monitor equipped with a QD-OLED panel that displays images in 4K resolution at a refresh rate of 165 Hz. This means it is sharp, smooth, and has that characteristic "OLED" contrast that impresses even during regular internet browsing. For those who worry about burn-in, Samsung has included its OLED protection system Safeguard+, designed to minimise this risk.

The screen is also covered with a special matte coating that reduces reflections, so even with a window or lamp behind it, you don't have to struggle with the monitor's positioning. This could be one of the better screens for everyday use that truly doesn't strain the eyes.

On top of that, it features the Tizen system – the same as in Samsung televisions. In practice: you can launch Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, or Disney+ without connecting a laptop. The M9 functions like a smart TV, but in the form of a monitor – ready to use immediately after turning it on.

Is this a monitor for work? Not yet.

Although Samsung promotes it as an “all-in-one” device, it's still difficult to consider the M9 as a tool for long hours of working with text. The subpixel structure in QD-OLED and WOLED can still blur fonts – and this is noticeable. However, when it comes to visual experiences, colour, and the overall “premium feel” – it is very good.

The whole family, but not everyone with OLED

Along with the M9, refreshed models M8 and M7 are also available for sale. Both still use classic LCD panels – without QD-OLED. The M8 targets the mid-range segment, while the M7 is a completely budget-friendly option. If someone wants a Smart Monitor from Samsung but doesn't necessarily need an OLED and 165 Hz, they can look for savings right there.

SAMSUNG Smart M8

The M8 model is a golden mean in the new line. We still get a 32-inch screen and 4K resolution, but without QD-OLED – here we have a classic VA-type LCD panel. The image is still clear and pleasant, although it does not have the same contrast and depth as in an OLED.

Samsung has also focused on all-in-one functionality in the M8: we have the Tizen system, access to popular streaming applications, a remote control included, and even a built-in camera (with the option to physically detach it if someone does not trust plastic covers). This is equipment more suited for those who do not need top-notch image quality but want a decent monitor with smart TV functionality, ready to use straight out of the box.

SAMSUNG Smart M7

Samsung M7 is the cheapest model in the series – and not without reason. It still has 32 inches, but instead of 4K OLED or VA, we get a simple LCD panel with lower brightness and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. There are no frills here, no camera, and the design is more “office-like” than “lifestyle-oriented.”

But if someone is looking for an inexpensive monitor that can handle basic tasks – like browsing the internet, watching Netflix, or connecting a laptop via USB-C – then the M7 will be a sensible option. The Tizen system is also present, so you can still launch YouTube without a computer, although the overall picture quality will be noticeably lower than in the M8 or M9.

What's it for?

Samsung's new series of Smart Monitors targets three different needs – and it's clear when we look at the M7, M8, and M9 as a whole.

For those who simply want a large screen with access to Netflix and YouTube, without unnecessary extras and at the lowest possible price – there's the M7. This is the most budget-friendly option of the trio, ideal for basic content consumption and occasional laptop connection.

If someone expects better image quality, wants a nicer design, a camera for video calls, and a more stylish piece of equipment for their home – then it's worth looking at the M8. This is a compromise between price and functionality, with a smart TV system and a design that fits well into a modern interior.

And for those who want it all: beautiful colours, deep blacks, OLED, high refresh rates, and smart features in one device – there's the M9. This is not a monitor for the typical office worker sitting 12 hours in Excel, but rather for those who work creatively, enjoy watching something in the evening, play games from time to time, and value image quality.

Three monitors – three different needs. Each has its "but", but at least it's easy to find one that suits your lifestyle.
