LG Display scoops another CES Innovation Awards – and for technologies that could completely change how we use screens in cars. The company has received accolades for two new solutions: Dual View OLED and Under Display Camera–infrared OLED (UDC-IR OLED). Both have been praised for their space-saving design, high image quality, and compliance with stringent automotive standards.
Dual View OLED – one screen, two worlds
By far the most intriguing is Dual View OLED. It is the first display that can show different images to different people, depending on their position in the car.
For example?
The driver sees navigation and vehicle indicators.
The passenger next to them – at the same time, on the same screen – is watching Netflix.
And what if they get to the back row? Each passenger can watch something different simultaneously. No additional tablets, no extra panels – full personalisation without taking up space in the cockpit.
Furthermore, the panel supports touch. LG Display has optimised the structure of OLED pixels so that one user's touch does not affect the image for another. If the passenger is scrolling through a film? The driver sees continuously stable data about the route. This could be one of the most fascinating automotive gadgets at CES 2026.
UDC-IR OLED – screen with an invisible camera
The second award-winning novelty is the UDC-IR OLED, a full-screen panel for navigation systems… with a hidden driver-monitoring camera beneath the display.
And it is no ordinary camera – it is a high-resolution IR camera, with image correction software from LG Innotek. It is completely invisible and increases the freedom of cockpit design because it does not require any physical cutouts.
LG Display emphasizes that in the future, many countries may require mandatory driver monitoring systems (e.g., drowsiness detection). This panel elegantly solves that problem without compromising the appearance of the dashboard.
Thanks to a higher light transmittance in the camera area, the sensor can see directly through the screen. It’s futuristic, yet very practical.
CES 2026 promises to be impressive for LG
It is worth adding that the parent company – LG Electronics – also won several CES Innovation Awards this year, including for:
the first Micro RGB TV,
transparent OLED T 77’’,
portable screen LG StanbyMe 2,
monitor UltraFine evo 6K with Thunderbolt 5.
LG Display confirms that Dual View OLED and UDC-IR OLED will be available to see live at the mobility technologies booth during CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
If these solutions indeed work as well as the manufacturer describes – we may be one step closer to a new era of automotive displays.
