At IFA 2025 in Berlin, confirmation was given that could significantly shake things up in the premium segment. Hisense announced that new LCD televisions with miniLED TriChroma RGB backlighting will hit the market in the second quarter of 2026 – an advancement of the RGB LED technology that we recently only saw in giants measuring 115 and 116 inches for 30 thousand dollars. Now it is supposed to be cheaper and much more accessible.
From 55 to 100 inches at reasonable prices
The new line – a successor to the U9 series – is set to include sizes from 55 to 100 inches. Importantly, Hisense is aiming for significantly lower prices than before:
55” – €1499
65” – €1799
75” – €2499
85” – €2999
100” – €4999
By comparison – today, for a 100-inch television of this brand with RGB LED, one would have to spend as much as $20,000. The difference is therefore colossal.
ChooseTV AI Engine X and 165 Hz
In technical terms, the new generation is set to utilise the ChooseTV AI Engine X, which is responsible for, among other things, intelligent backlight control and real-time image enhancement. Additionally, it features a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, placing these models in a very interesting position for gamers. Hisense will also add a new anti-reflective coating, which is intended to improve viewing comfort in bright rooms. We will likely hear more details at CES 2026 in January.
Dolby Vision 2 getting closer
The first television to support Dolby Vision 2 will be the enormous 116UXQ, powered by the MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip – this is the first chip to receive certification for the new standard. It seems likely that models from 2026 will also feature this function. This makes sense, as Hisense is a launch partner for Dolby Vision 2.
The uncertainty remains whether support will also appear in this year's U8Q and U7Q Pro series, which utilise the same chip. If so, a software update could significantly extend their lifespan in the market.
This is a move that will significantly raise the bar for the competition. A few weeks ago, it was said that Sony is also preparing its own LCD TVs with RGB LED in sizes ranging from 65 to 115 inches for 2026. It seems that next year we will witness one of the more interesting rivalries in the high-end segment.
