Apple is stepping up preparations for the autumn launch of new iPhones, and further leaks reveal plans for their design. This time there are reports of a significant increase in orders for vapour chambers, a modern cooling system used in high-performance mobile devices. The solution is intended to help maintain lower temperatures during demanding tasks such as gaming or running features based on artificial intelligence. According to unofficial reports, the technology will appear not only in the Pro models but also in the first foldable iPhone. Apple is also preparing stocks for the anniversary iPhone 20, which will debut next year. All of these details, however, come from unofficial sources and should be treated as rumours.

Vapour chambers set to appear in Apple's most important iPhones

According to information published by well-known leaker Fixed Focus Digital, Apple has significantly increased orders for vapour chambers used to cool smartphones. This solution allows heat to be dissipated more effectively from the processor and other components, which translates into more stable device performance. The leak suggests the new parts are being prepared primarily for the first foldable iPhone, tentatively called the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. However, it cannot be ruled out that the technology will also appear in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Earlier reports already indicated that Apple plans to use larger vapour chambers in its most advanced smartphones. The expanded cooling system is intended as a response to the growing demands of modern processors and AI features. More efficient cooling may also reduce thermal throttling of the processor. As a result, devices should maintain peak performance for longer.

Leaks also mention the anniversary iPhone 20

Sources also say that some of the new orders have been allocated to next year's iPhone 20, which is set to mark the 20th anniversary of Apple's smartphones. According to earlier rumours, the company plans to produce around 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone. Production for the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be as high as about 70 million units. Additionally, another leaker, Reptalica, published a CT scan of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro. The material suggests the use of an unusually large vapour chamber reaching almost the top of the device. The leak also points to changes in the Dynamic Island module's design. According to these reports, the cutout in the display may be reduced by moving one of the Face ID system's components under the display or to the side of the device. Apple has not commented on these reports, so confirmation will have to wait until the official unveiling of the new models.

Latest rumours suggest that Apple is investing heavily in vapour chamber technology, which could significantly improve the cooling of future iPhones. If confirmed, the new solution will appear in the foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro series and likely also in the anniversary iPhone 20. Official details will only be revealed during the presentation of the new devices.
