Fans of the Radeon brand have reasons for moderate optimism. Although AMD has recently focused on the mid-range price segment, the latest leaks suggest that the company may be planning a spectacular, (albeit limited) return to the fight for top performance. This concerns the new RDNA 5 architecture and the flagship chip codenamed "AT0".
Strategy "Radeon VII"
According to information from well-known insider Kepler_L2, AMD is considering the release of a graphics card based on the full AT0 core, but its availability may be severely limited. This situation is reminiscent of the launch of the Radeon VII card from years ago. It was a product with a professional pedigree, adapted for gamers in limited quantities. It's worth mentioning that the current generation RDNA 4 (series 9000) performs excellently in the mid-premium segment, competing with the RTX5070 ti or sometimes even the RTX5080. However, the biggest fans of the brand are still waiting for a direct response to the most powerful units from Nvidia.
What do we know about the RDNA 5 specification?
Although AMD's official plans remain a mystery, it is speculated that the flagship model AT0 could feature as many as 96 compute units (CUs) and a powerful 512-bit memory bus, allowing for the installation of up to 32 GB of VRAM. This would be a massive leap compared to the former flagship, RX 7900 XTX, which remains AMD's graphics card with the largest amount of VRAM. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing crisis in the memory market, which we mentioned in relation to Nvidia's results, the release of these chips should not be expected before 2027. The year 2026 will likely be marked by processors, while the GPU market will remain in a phase of "waiting" for a stabilisation of component supply.
