85-inch TVs – Test Rankings

Available screen sizes: 77”, 83”

Technology: WRGB OLED, WRGB TANDEM OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

The C6H is an even more interesting TV because the use of a Tandem OLED panel means the C series is moving into territory previously reserved for far more expensive models. You still get all the benefits of the regular C6, but the panel’s capabilities are on a completely different level. HDR illustrates this best. In many scenes we measured around 2000 nits, and at times even 2300 nits — results p...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED RGB

Brand: HISENSE

Verdict:

The Hisense UR8S is above all a very versatile, higher-end TV that in most situations simply performs well or very well. It's not a model aimed only at cinema, gaming or watching in a bright living room. Its biggest advantage is that it can combine all those uses in a single set and doesn't have any one obvious weak point. In terms of picture, the UR8S has a lot to offer. Contrast is high, HDR can...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED RGB

Brand: SONY

Verdict:

Sony Bravia 7 II is a TV that shows RGB Mini-LED doesn't have to be reserved only for the wealthiest buyers. And although in a few places it’s clear it sits below the Bravia 9 II, in everyday use it doesn't feel like a heavily stripped-down model. The biggest thing here is the combination of very good black levels, high brightness and Sony's excellent algorithms. That makes the picture dramatic, w...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: XIAOMI

Verdict:

In the 85- and 98-inch sizes the Xiaomi S Mini 2026 is a TV you can recommend with much more confidence than its smaller variants. Very good contrast, around 1,000 nits of brightness and Dolby Vision support make HDR movies look really good, and the 144 Hz panel gives it completely different capabilities for sport and gaming. If you're looking for a large Mini LED and don't want to pay top-tier pr...

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

LG OLED B6 is a very successful continuation of the B series and a TV that makes a lot of sense as a first step into OLED. It doesn’t try to compete with the most expensive models in every respect, but on the key points it still delivers exactly what many people choose this technology for: perfect black, very high contrast and a picture that can simply look spectacular in movies. Much of that is d...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: LG

Verdict:

LG MRGB85 is a TV that suits gamers and people attached to the webOS ecosystem best. In that respect there’s little to fault. It offers plenty of benefits for gamers thanks to a very high panel refresh rate. Add a smoothly working webOS — which stands out on the market above all because of the convenient Magic Remote and a full set of features for traditional TV — and it’s easy to see its appeal. ...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED RGB + PFS

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

TCL RM7L is a TV that can’t be judged fairly by numbers and measurement charts alone. Although it’s not uncompromising, it more than holds its own in everyday use. It delivers a bright, dynamic and saturated picture, so it’s great for HDR content, games and fast-paced movies. The RM7L doesn’t chase perfect "reference-grade" accuracy. Instead it serves up an image that’s simply pleasing to the eye....

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

Samsung S90H is a TV that simply makes a brilliant impression. The combination of OLED’s absolute black, high brightness and excellent motion clarity produces a picture that’s hard to look away from. And that’s exactly what you expect from a good OLED TV. The matte anti-reflective coating also works very well. Reflections on a sunny day become less of an issue, and thanks to the standard polariser...

Technology: QD-OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung S99H is probably the best OLED TV we’ve tested so far, and certainly the best Samsung OLED in years. In terms of picture quality it’s really hard to find a weak spot. Blacks are perfect, as you’d expect from an OLED panel, and the HDR performance impresses with brightness and colour saturation. The use of a QD-OLED panel produces an image that in many scenes looks almost reference-leve...

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED QLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

Samsung QN80H is a genuinely successful mid-range TV and, in our view, that's how you should look at it. Not as the new Neo QLED flagship, but as the first model in Samsung's lineup that already gives a clear taste of better picture quality. Full-array Mini-LED backlighting, high brightness and well-saturated colours mean that for someone moving up from a regular LCD TV the difference can be reall...
