Samsung has quietly rolled out another OLED TV. It's the S95H model, which has just started appearing in European stores. Right from the start one thing should be noted: this is neither the Samsung S99H nor the same S95H known from the US market. The new model looks more like the European successor to the very successful S95F. So we get a top-of-the-range TV, but in a slightly different incarnation to the flagship S99H.
The S95H is not the S99H. Samsung has prepared a completely different model
The biggest difference is already visible in the design. The S95H uses the design known from the S95F series, meaning a slim casing and an external One Connect module. That's important, because you won't find that solution in the S99H. It also features a matte screen with a Glare Free coating, one of Samsung's most distinctive solutions in recent OLED generations. There's also the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, the top-end chip responsible for scaling, motion smoothing and overall image processing. The same chip is also found in the pricier S99H.
In popular sizes of 55, 65 and 77 inches, the TV will use a QD-OLED panel, the same technology responsible for very high brightness, wide colour volume and the characteristically saturated image in Samsung's top OLEDs.
The 48-inch version is the biggest new addition, but also a completely different TV
The most interesting new model is the 48-inch variant. Until now Samsung hasn't offered such a small size in its flagship OLED series, so its appearance alone is a significant change. You do need to be careful, though, because the smaller model differs from the larger versions. Instead of a QD-OLED panel, it gets a WOLED panel. At the moment it's unclear whether this is LG Display's latest Tandem OLED design or a classic WOLED panel.
That's not the end of the differences. The 48‑inch model doesn't come with the One Connect module. Paradoxically, it's the only one to get the AI Football Mode Pro feature, which isn't available on the larger sizes.
S95H looks set to be the successor to one of Samsung’s best OLEDs
The rest of the specs look very strong. The Samsung S95H features a 4.2.2-channel audio system rated at 70 W, a setup similar to the manufacturer's flagship models. So we can expect not only a great picture but also quite sophisticated sound for an OLED TV. Overall, the S95H comes across as a direct continuation of the S95F, just with refreshed specs and a new processor. That’s good news, because its predecessor was one of Samsung’s most successful OLEDs in recent years. The bar is set high, and the new model already looks very promising on paper.
