The coming week looks set to be unusually busy for owners of Xbox consoles and PCs. From 24 to 28 August, more than 20 new games will land on Microsoft's platforms, spanning a wide range of genres. There will be major releases, new instalments in well-known series and smaller indie projects. The end of the week looks especially interesting, with several highly anticipated titles arriving on Xbox.
Star Wars, A Plague Tale and Metal Gear Solid are the biggest releases next week
One of the most important releases will be Star Wars Zero Company, which launches on 27 August. EA’s production is a turn-based tactical single-player game set in the Star Wars universe at the end of the Clone Wars. Players will take command of the elite Zero Company squad and play as Hawks, a former Republic officer. On the same day Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will also arrive, a new Asobo Studio title that takes the series in a completely new direction. The story is set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem, and the main protagonist is Sophia. This time the developers put more emphasis on combat, exploration and dynamic movement, and players will, among other things, come across a mysterious island tied to the legend of the Minotaur. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. 27 August will also see the debut of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The next collection from Konami’s cult series will include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in HD. Fans of co-op play can pick up Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, where up to four players take on Colonial Marines fighting hordes of Xenomorphs. Other bigger releases include Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters with 110 playable characters, and Blood Dungeon, a challenging survival-focused platformer. The latter title will also hit Xbox Game Pass on 25 August.
From small indie games to strategy and survival. Xbox has releases planned for every taste
The release list is much longer and includes many smaller titles. On 25 August, for example, Once Human will arrive — a multiplayer survival game in which players must build shelter, fight monsters and uncover the secrets of a post-apocalyptic world. A day earlier B.i.t will debut, a platformer based on exploring ten diverse worlds and gaining new abilities. On 26 August players will get, among others, Brigandine: Abyss, a strategy that combines nation management with RPG elements, and Aggelos 2, a dynamic action platformer. That same day will also see more relaxing titles such as Cozy Tiny Home, Comfy Corners: Unpack and Decorate and Whisper of the House. There will also be puzzle and collecting games, as shown by Mech Shelf, A Tower Full of Cats and Hidden Cats in Barcelona. On 27 August the list will grow with titles like Infection Free Zone, in which players will build a safe settlement after a global epidemic using real-world maps of places. That day will also bring Lou's Lagoon, Tearscape, Murders on the Yangtze River, Horripilant and several smaller releases. The week closes with releases on 28 August, including 1964 Operation Velvet Twins, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge 4 Remastered, Mighty Aphid: Remastered Edition, Once Alive, Rune Axe and Splash of Color. That means players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC will have plenty of new titles to check out next week. Summary: The week of 24 to 28 August will bring to Xbox over 20 new games, featuring both major franchises and indie productions. The biggest releases are Star Wars Zero Company, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 and Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. A bunch of new titles will also hit Xbox Game Pass, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Blood Dungeon and Once Human. Fans of various genres will definitely have plenty to choose from.
