Time for a little "soul searching" and an important update for everyone following our TV tests. Although the TitanOS system initially had significant gaps in the Polish streaming offer, that situation has now changed. We have updated all our reviews and comparisons, as key applications finally appeared in the Philips ecosystem: Player and Polsat Box Go.
TVN Player on Philips televisions
We want to make it clear: in our newsroom, we adhere to the principle that we rely solely on facts, not on flashy PR announcements. We are well aware that some updates and new applications are announced well in advance, but life teaches us that the road from "announcement" to an icon on the screen can be winding. In the case of the Player app, the first mentions of its implementation emerged as early as the beginning of December. However, just after the announcement itself, despite our attempts, the app simply wasn't physically in the system yet. We don't know the exact day or week it "permanently popped up" in the store, but now – after checking this on several different Philips models – we can confirm with full responsibility: Player is here and working.
Polsat Box Go also on TitanOS
The situation with ChooseTV Box Go looked even more interesting. When we conducted our main tests in May, this application – despite being expected there – was completely unavailable for some unexplained reason. We noted this as a downside for the TitanOS system at the time. Today, after verifying the hardware with the latest software version, ChooseTV Box Go is now visible and ready for use. It's hard to say whether it was a server-side error or an issue with the lack of appropriate firmware, but the fact is that the problem has been resolved.
Why just now?
We honestly admit: after the December announcements regarding Player, we didn't drop everything to check the system daily – we simply didn't have the time during the peak season. However, now that we've thoroughly "clicked through" several models, we have certainty. If you've bought or are planning to purchase a Philips on TitanOS, you can already count on almost the full package of Polish VOD services. All our tests have already been updated with this information so that none of you are misled by outdated gaps. If the apps haven't appeared for you yet – check the availability of the system update in your TV's menu.
