Gemini arrives on Google TV – a new era of voice assistants on the big screen!

Calendar 9/24/2025

Google brings Gemini to Google TV. TCL is the first to offer the new AI assistant on the big screen. Discover what Gemini can do.

Google officially starts rolling out Gemini on Google TV, and the first brand to offer this feature is TCL. In the coming months, the new assistant will appear on more models and brands.

This is another front in the battle for dominance in the world of AI assistants. Gemini will compete with Amazon Alexa+, the refreshed Bixby from Samsung, and the upcoming improved Siri from Apple.

What can Gemini do on televisions?

“Today we are introducing Gemini to televisions. Everything that the Google Assistant has done so far continues to work, but Gemini takes it a step further. It allows for a natural conversation with the big screen – from searching for a series for the evening, to planning a family outing, and even helping with homework. Just say Hey Google or press the microphone button on the remote” – emphasised Shalini GovilPai, VP Google TV.

FlatpanelsHD, which had the chance to test Gemini earlier, notes that while some queries still end up searching on YouTube, it is still a step forward compared to the classic Google Assistant.

Examples of Using Gemini

  • Movie night without arguments: “Find something to watch with my wife. I prefer dramas, she likes light comedies.”

  • Quick recap of the plot: “What happened in the last season of Outlander?”

  • When you don't remember the title: “What’s that new medical series everyone is talking about?”. Gemini will provide suggestions – e.g. The Pitt.

You can also ask for reviews, weather, recipes, or general information.

Where is Gemini already available?

At launch, Gemini will appear in the TCL QM9K series (premiere in September 2025).

This year it will also be available on:

  • Google TV Streamer

  • Walmart onn. 4K Pro

  • Hisense 2025 (U7, U8, UX)

  • TCL 2025 (QM7K, QM8K, X11K)

Google also announces the expansion of Gemini's features to an even greater number of televisions – and today, there are already 300 million active devices worldwide using Google TV and Android TV.

It looks like televisions are becoming another platform where the AI battle is picking up pace – and it's Gemini that may set the direction for how our conversations with the big screen will look in the coming years.
