Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has fallen victim to another breach of Denuvo’s protections. DSOGaming reported that the bypass was carried out by someone operating under the pseudonym voices38. The game debuted on 9 July, so just over a month passed between release and the security breach. This is another example showing that Denuvo does not guarantee lasting protection against unauthorised circumvention. The game itself is a fully fledged remake of the popular Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and introduces many changes compared with the original.
Denuvo in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been cracked
According to available information, Denuvo in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been cracked by a person using the pseudonym voices38. It took more than 30 days after the game's release on 9 July for the protection to be successfully bypassed. By comparison, the previous major Denuvo-protected title to be cracked was Crimson Desert. In that case, it took just 11 days. This shows how much the time needed to bypass Denuvo can vary depending on the specific title. However, the cracking itself does not necessarily mean the publisher intends to drop the technology in future games. Ubisoft may still decide to keep Denuvo in its other releases. In recent years, however, some publishers have removed Denuvo from older games after a time. Square Enix, Capcom, Bethesda and other major publishers have made such decisions. It's worth emphasising that circumventing protections to gain unauthorised access to a game may violate copyright and the software's terms of use. So, the news of Denuvo being cracked is primarily a curiosity about the DRM used in PC games.
The Black Flag remake offers far more than just a visual overhaul
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not just a refreshed version of the original with better graphics. Ubisoft rebuilt the combat system, which is now faster and more dynamic. Parries and flashy takedowns play a bigger role. Stealth and parkour have also been improved, making traversal and escapes smoother. The Jackdaw remains an important element and can be upgraded as you progress through the game. The remake also adds new naval mechanics and alternative firing modes. The developers have included new story content, which brings back, among others, Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. Three new officers have been added to the main story who can join the player’s crew. One of the more interesting additions is the ability to dive underwater in almost any location. While sneaking you can also use a rope to pull enemies in and throw coins to distract guards. All of this runs on the latest version of the Anvil Engine, and the PC version offers, among other things, ray tracing that enhances global illumination and reflections.
The Denuvo crack for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced appeared a little over a month after the game's release. It's another case where the popular anti-piracy protection was successfully bypassed. However, the remake has far more to offer than just a graphical refresh. Ubisoft has overhauled combat, stealth and parkour, and added new story elements and exploration mechanics. The game also uses the modern Anvil Engine and offers ray tracing support on PC.
