TCL during the SID Display Week 2026 showcased several very futuristic display technologies. The company presented, among other things, a huge 130-inch LCD panel, a foldable OLED monitor, and a new screen offering record coverage of the BT.2020 color space. Everything indicates that the manufacturer wants to compete more and more strongly with Samsung and LG not only in televisions but also in the market for modern OLED panels.
TCL presents a gigantic television and a foldable OLED monitor
One of the biggest attractions of the fair was the 130-inch LCD panel, which TCL describes as the largest screen of its kind in the world. Interestingly, despite its enormous size, the construction is less than 3 centimeters thick. The panel offers a 4K resolution and is likely destined for very expensive premium televisions in the future. This screen is set to be the foundation for new Samsung Micro RGB models and future TCL televisions. The company also showcased a particularly interesting foldable OLED monitor made using inkjet printing technology. The panel can transform from a 16-inch screen into a 28-inch ultrawide monitor. TCL claims that the new technology is supposed to be more energy-efficient than current OLEDs while also offering a better RGB structure than some competing solutions. The manufacturer clearly signals that it wants to compete with LG WOLED and Samsung QD-OLED in monitors and mobile devices as well.
The new TCL technology could significantly improve HDR quality
However, the most futuristic appearance is attributed to the new LCD panel utilizing RGBC LED backlighting. In addition to the standard red, green, and blue diodes, a fourth color, cyan, has been added here. As a result, the screen is expected to achieve as much as 131 percent coverage of the BT.2020 color space, which is a significantly higher result than today's best premium TVs. Such a wide color gamut could finally allow televisions to fully utilize the capabilities of modern HDR formats, such as HDR10+ or Dolby Vision. TCL also suggests that the technology may work with very high brightness levels, potentially approaching even 10,000 nits. For now, however, it remains a demonstrative technology that is likely to appear in consumer televisions only in a few years.
TCL CSOT showcased at SID Display Week 2026 that the company is aggressively developing new display technologies. Gigantic televisions, foldable OLEDs, and record color quality suggest that the coming years may bring a significant revolution in the premium screen market.
