Hell has frozen over: Galaxy A57 with screens from TCL CSOT instead of Samsung Display.

Calendar 3/18/2026

Hell has frozen over. Samsung Electronics has decided to purchase AMOLED displays from its Chinese competitor, TCL CSOT. According to OLED-info, the contract for 15 million panels has already been finalized. This means that upcoming bestsellers, such as the Galaxy A57 and new models of Galaxy S FE, will for the first time in history not exclusively use displays from the sister company Samsung Display.

Price Works Wonders: 20% Cheaper than at Home

The main reason for this sensational decision is simple economic reasoning. Prices for processors and RAM are rising dramatically, so Samsung had to look for savings elsewhere to avoid raising the prices of their phones. ChooseTV offered an irresistible deal. Their screens are 20% cheaper than those produced by Samsung Display. For the giant from Korea, this is purely business, allowing them to maintain margins on key mid-range models.

It's worth mentioning that ChooseTV had already supplied panels for the budget M and A series, but the A5x and S FE models have always been Korea's stronghold in the mobile offering. Breaking this monopoly shows that Chinese screens have already achieved a quality that Samsung is not afraid to showcase in their most important smartphones.

Thinner bezels thanks to... the Chinese?

Switching to a new supplier also means a technological leap. In 2026, the Galaxy A57 and FE models are finally expected to receive Flexible AMOLED panels instead of the previous glass structures. This will make the phones lighter and the bezels around the screen significantly smaller. Since flexible displays are more expensive to produce, the choice of a cheaper supplier from China has allowed Samsung to make this upgrade without a drastic increase in the final price of the device.

For us, the users, this information has a bittersweet taste. On one hand, we can expect A57 and FE series smartphones without drastic price hikes. On the other hand, a certain era is coming to an end, where buying a Samsung from the mid-to-upper tier meant we could be sure that every component of its screen came from the same Korean family.
