Philips continues to develop its new Smart TV platform, which is gradually replacing Google TV across the manufacturer's models. One of the biggest complaints about Titan OS was the limited number of available apps. However, the situation is beginning to change. The manufacturer has just announced the addition of one of the most important streaming services on the market. As a result, owners of many Philips televisions will gain access to another large library of films and TV series.
Apple TV app arrives on TVs with Titan OS
Titan OS is a Smart TV platform that Philips has been developing for several years and is increasingly promoting in its new TVs. In 2026 the company completely abandoned Google TV in its new models, relying solely on its own solution. One of the biggest challenges, however, was ensuring adequate support for popular streaming apps. At first the catalogue was relatively modest, but it has since grown rapidly. Available services already include Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube and Prime Video. Now Apple TV is joining the group. This is an important step in the platform’s development, as Apple’s service offers access both to its own productions and to an extensive library of premium content. Viewers can watch series such as 'Silo', 'Severance', 'Ted Lasso' and 'For All Mankind'.
There are also high-profile films and new releases prepared by Apple. Adding the app means Titan OS is beginning to offer almost the complete set of the world’s leading streaming platforms. According to earlier announcements, SkyShowtime may also join the list later this year. That means Philips TV users will no longer need to use additional set-top boxes or consoles just to access their favourite VOD services.
Support for 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is good news for users
The new Apple TV app has not been limited to basic picture quality. Philips has confirmed that users will have access to 4K content and HDR10. More advanced formats Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are also supported, which significantly improve picture and sound quality on compatible devices. That means Apple Originals series and films can be watched in the highest quality available on the platform. The app will be available not only on Philips’s latest 2026 TVs. Models from 2025 and selected devices released in 2024 will also receive support. That’s good news for people who bought a TV relatively recently and do not plan to replace their hardware. Titan OS is being developed beyond the Philips brand. The system can be found, among others, in selected AOC and JVC TVs, which means their users can also expect new possibilities. At the moment it is not known whether the Titan OS app will also allow buying and renting films directly from Apple’s library. On some external platforms that function is not available. Regardless, adding Apple TV significantly boosts the appeal of the whole Titan OS ecosystem and shows the platform is increasingly confident in competing with better-known Smart TV systems.
Philips has added the Apple TV app to TVs running Titan OS. Users of selected models from 2024–2026 have gained access to content in 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. This is another step in the platform's development, which is gradually building a complete library of the key streaming apps.
