If you're on the hunt for a great OLED TV, now is the best time to buy one at a record low price. Models that just a few months ago cost even several thousand dollars are now available with discounts of up to 60%.
This applies to both top-of-the-line models and basic versions, which, despite their lower price, offer all the advantages of OLED technology – that is, perfect blacks, infinite contrast, very good motion quality, and excellent colour reproduction.
We realise that the transition from spring to summer isn't the time when most people spend their days in front of a screen; however, this is the time of year when stores start making room for new items, and older models from the 2024 range achieve record low prices. In short: this is the best time to buy.
Best OLED TVs on sale!
LG G4
This is one of the best – if not the best – televisions of 2024. Thanks to its proprietary OLED MLA technology, the G4 can confidently compete with the top models on the market. A similar panel is used by Panasonic in its Z95A and Philips in the OLED909, but what sets LG G4 apart from the competition… is the price.
At the time of writing this article, the G4 is available at a really fantastic deal – prices can be half of what they were on launch day. The LG G4 doesn’t need much introduction – it has appeared numerous times in our rankings. But if this is your first guide, it’s worth mentioning that LG uses its own production OLED panel equipped with micro-lenses. Thanks to them, W-OLED panels have achieved brightness that not long ago seemed beyond their reach.
Excellent blacks, very high brightness, and fantastic colour reproduction make the LG G4 simply one of the best choices in its class. For gamers, it’s the perfect television – 144 Hz, lightning-fast response time, full HDMI 2.1. Literally a gaming monster.
If you don't mind not having such a high maximum brightness but want to keep most of the advantages of the G4 model, it’s worth taking a look at the LG C4. This is also an OLED from 2024, based on the same panel technology, but lacking the micro-lens layer. In everyday use, the differences – aside from brightness – are minimal, and choosing this model can bring significant savings.
The C4 also offers perfect black, vibrant colours, excellent motion reproduction, a complete set of HDMI 2.1 ports, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Both televisions operate on the WebOS system, which we are big fans of – intuitive interface, convenient control with a gyroscopic remote, access to all the essential apps. It’s also worth mentioning the Re:new program, which makes system updates and new features available for 5 years from the release. So, when purchasing an older model, you won't miss out on any innovations.
The model worth considering is the Samsung S90D – a direct competitor to the LG C4, offering very similar properties. In most sizes, it uses the same generation of W-OLED panels. The exception – and the most strongly recommended version – is the 65-inch variant with a QD-OLED panel.
Thanks to it, colour reproduction, viewing angles, and the smoothness of tonal transitions can be compared to much more expensive models, such as the flagship S95D, but at half its price! QD-OLED also has its drawbacks like any technology, for example, poorer blacks in external light, but overall, it is the 65" variant that is worth buying. What may be a downside? The lack of Dolby Vision. Samsung bets on HDR10+, which, although not as popular, is increasingly present on platforms like Netflix and Disney+.
Cheapest OLEDs from the sale!
Samsung S85D
Samsung has caused quite a stir by releasing this television (S85D), but not because of its technical specifications, rather due to its very attractive price – it can currently be purchased for around 3200 PLN. For comparison – that's about the same price as a regular 120 Hz LCD TV without local dimming. Meanwhile, the S85D is a full-fledged OLED: perfect contrast, excellent motion smoothness, and very decent colours – especially after calibration. It's a great option for those who enjoy watching series, movies, or playing on a console in the evenings. The 120 Hz panel, support for motion smoothing technology that works even in games – all of this means that even on an older generation console, the picture looks better.
LG B4
LG B4 is a direct competitor to S85D – also OLED, but with Dolby Vision, which is missing in Samsung. If you care about this format, B4 will be a better choice. However, be cautious about the prices – if B4 costs the same as C4, it's definitely better to add that extra 100–200 PLN to C4. But if it's closer to the price of S85D – then it's definitely worth it. It's a great compromise – with Dolby Vision, full support for gamers, and picture quality that no LCD offers in this budget.
Great alternatives that could significantly decrease in price!
Philips OLED809
Although the price of the Philips OLED809 is still higher than its competitors from Korea, such as the LG C4 or Samsung S90D, it is a model that we can definitely recommend. It is one of the few OLEDs from this brand that runs on the Google TV system – instead of the heavily restricted Titan OS found in cheaper Philips models. This gives us access to a much larger number of applications and better integration with our Google account. The Philips OLED809 is also a unique model in terms of aesthetics – mainly thanks to the Ambilight technology, which can enchant the viewing experience by illuminating the wall behind the television with colours that match the image. For many, this detail will be the deciding factor in choosing a television.
Panasonic Z85A
The Z85A is an OLED from Panasonic that has been very reasonably priced since its launch. The standard price for the 55" variant hovers around 4000 PLN – so there's no classic "paying extra for the brand" situation here. It's a model that offers a decent image processor, very good black quality, support for gamers, and a panel that competes with other OLEDs in this budget.
However, it's worth being cautious about the availability of apps – the Panasonic Z85A runs on the Amazon Fire TV system, which in Europe (and particularly in Poland) is not yet well developed. Therefore, it may lack some popular services or applications that are typically available on Google TV or WebOS.
Is OLED everything?
As you may have noticed – we have seven models, and they are all OLEDs. Not without reason. Year on year, they are getting cheaper and in terms of quality, they are practically unparalleled. Brightness? A bit lower than in Mini LEDs. But black levels, contrast, viewing angles, smoothness – OLED still leads the way.
Of course, we haven’t listed all OLED models here, as that’s not the main point. This doesn’t mean we don’t recommend the others – we just believe these specific models have dropped in price the most or will soon cost significantly less than the competition and stand out the most against the entire range.
However, if you’re interested in other types of televisions, like Mini LED, or want to see which models of a particular brand we recommend, we have something for you too! In the next article, you will find a review of the best LCD TVs with local dimming. At the bottom of the page, you will also find other rankings and comparisons of models – we warmly invite you to check them out!
