Steam is breaking records without AAA hits. Over 42 million players at the same time!

Calendar 1/12/2026

Steam has set another activity record, surpassing 42 million concurrent logged in users. Importantly, the milestone was reached without any major game release, highlighting Valve’s complete dominance of the PC gaming market.

Steam once again shows who really holds the cards in the PC market. The Valve platform has just broken a new record for activity, exceeding the barrier of 42 million logged-in users simultaneously. And this is at a time when there are no major releases to artificially inflate the statistics. It's an impressive result not only in scale but also in context.

Valve's Dominance is Becoming a Fact

The competition between Steam and Epic Games Store is increasingly heading in one direction. The latest market analyses show that Epic has become stuck in stagnation, recording a growth of around 1.5% per year, which is practically within the margin of statistical error. Free games and Fortnite have ceased to be sufficient arguments to genuinely threaten Valve's position. Meanwhile, Steam is doing exactly what it does best – developing the platform without aggressive moves, controversial decisions, or irritating the community. For many players, it is stability and predictability that have become crucial.

Record without the "seller system"

The most interesting thing about all of this is that the record of over 42 million users occurred without the support of a major AAA hit. There's no new Call of Duty, no GTA 6 launch, no game that would simply explain such a surge in interest. This is the best proof that Steam has stopped being just a game store. It is now a complete platform – with a massive library, social features, a mod workshop, support for indie games, and regular promotions that effectively keep players engaged for years.

ChooseTV in the spotlight, Steam charges ahead

While the Epic Games Store is still searching for its identity, Steam is steadily increasing its lead. New records are no longer surprising; they have become the new norm. If nothing changes, Valve's dominance on PC may soon be not just a fact, but also something completely undeniable. 42 million players online at the same time speak for themselves.
