Samsung TV + Perplexity AI: a new level of smart televisions!

Calendar 10/23/2025

Samsung TV 2025 with Perplexity AI! Free Pro year, smarter answers and a new Tizen update. TVs are getting more intelligent than ever before.

Samsung raises the bar once again – this time not hardware-wise, but software-wise. The application Perplexity AI has just debuted on the brand's televisions, making it one of the most serious competitors to ChatGPT. This new feature is now available on all models from the Tizen 2025 series, and it will soon also be available on televisions from 2023 and 2024 through a software update.

What is Perplexity AI?

Perplexity is what's known as an AI answer engine – an answer engine with one goal: to provide precise, reliable information. Unlike ChatGPT, which serves as a universal assistant, Perplexity focuses solely on user questions and bases its answers entirely on verified sources. According to its creators, this makes it more accurate and "encyclopaedic" than its competitors.

The app on Samsung televisions simply allows you to ask a question – either vocally or through an on-screen keyboard – and the artificial intelligence will provide an answer within seconds. After each reply, Perplexity also suggests follow-up questions, expanding on the topic and encouraging the user to continue the conversation.

Free year of Perplexity Pro for Samsung TV users

As an incentive, Samsung is offering all owners of its televisions a 12-month free access to Perplexity Pro. Simply scan the QR code displayed in the app. The Pro version not only provides faster responses but also access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, as well as the “Research” mode, which allows for in-depth reports and image generation.

How to launch Perplexity on your TV?

You can find the app in the Apps section or open it using your voice with the Vision AI Companion – the new Samsung assistant activated by the “AI” button on the remote. After the first launch, you need to accept the terms of use, and then you can ask about anything:

– what to watch for Halloween,

– how to avoid doing the dishes,

– what to wear on a date,

– or even home remedies for a sore throat.

For those not using the microphone, an on-screen keyboard is available or you can use an external USB keyboard.

Samsung TVs – AI Centre

Perplexity isn't the only "smart" addition in the Korean giant's TVs. During IFA 2025, the company showcased Vision AI Companion – a system that integrates various artificial intelligence features into one cohesive interface.

A month earlier, Bixby AI received the biggest update in its history, becoming significantly more conversational. You can now chat with it almost like you would with ChatGPT – asking for movie recommendations, sports scores, or news from around the world.

And that's not all – Microsoft Copilot has also appeared on Tizen screens, which is an assistant integrating with the entire Microsoft ecosystem and offering similar functions to Perplexity, but more focused on multimedia content and productivity.

AI in TVs: a new wave of competition

Samsung isn’t alone. Google is introducing Gemini on Google TV, replacing the old Google Assistant. Roku has added the Roku Voice AI feature to its TVs, allowing conversations in a ChatGPT style. Even Apple has a plan – the new Apple TV 4K with a stronger chip will support Apple Intelligence, its own AI system.

Do we really need so many assistants?

It's a good question – and probably none of them have a clear answer yet. But one thing is for sure: Samsung TVs are no longer just screens. They are increasingly resembling the hub of home intelligence, where artificial intelligence not only suggests what to watch but can also… answer almost any question.
