For now, this is not an official announcement yet, but it has become quite the buzz behind the scenes. Posts from Samsung's European parts database have surfaced online, suggesting that the hit QD-OLED panel will not be confined to just one television and one size. If everything is confirmed, we can expect a lot of shuffling in the S95, S90, and S85 series in 2025 and 2026.
How it is today: QD-OLED only in one S90F
In the current 2025 offering, the only "true" QD-OLED in the more mainstream line is the 65-inch Samsung S90F. The other sizes of the S90F are based on classic WOLED from LG Display, just like the lower S85F series. That’s why the 65-inch QD-OLED is so often mentioned as Samsung’s most cost-effective OLED.
In short: if you want QD-OLED and are not aiming for the pricier S95F, the choice is simple – 65S90F.
What leaks are saying: 77 inches also with QD-OLED
New entries in Samsung's parts database suggest that this situation won't last long. Documents regarding next year's and "next-next year's" models indicate that the QD-OLED panel will also be available in 77 inches.
In the S95H family models, the 77-inch versions are described as QD-OLED, just like the 65 and 55 inches. Meanwhile, the largest 83-inch and smaller 48-inch models are set to use WOLED panels. In other words: the premium S95H series will combine both types of panels, but all popular living room sizes (55, 65, 77) are to remain with QD-OLED.
Things get interesting further down. The S90H series is set to be a mix of QD-OLED and WOLED depending on size and market. The documents clearly show that the 77-inch S90H in some countries has QD-OLED, while the 83, 65, 55, 48, and 42 inches stick with WOLED. This is where we will practically see the slogan "hit QD-OLED panel will reach other sizes" – the 77S90H could become what the 65S90F is today.
S85H and Co: WOLED Holds Its Ground
The lower S85H series is expected to remain fully WOLED, regardless of screen size, according to leaks. This makes sense strategically: Samsung can more clearly distinguish the "entry OLED" tier from the more advanced QD-OLEDs in the S90H and S95H. It's also worth noting the slight differences in the model designations: along with the S90H, variants S92H, S93H, and S94H appear. They mainly differ in their audio section, cabinet colour, and type of stand. In the documents, we find information that:
S90H has Object Tracking Sound Lite,
S92H/S93H/S94H utilise full Object Tracking Sound,
S95H gets Object Tracking Sound Plus.
So the classic "those who like to pay extra for better speakers and finish will have something to enjoy."
WOLED vs QD-OLED: a mix that could shake things up
For those in the know, this all means one thing: in 2026, buying a Samsung OLED will require even more careful checking of specifications. The same “S90H” in 77 inches may have a completely different panel than the 55-inch version sitting right next to it in the shop. In fact, in some countries, the 77-inch may come with both WOLED and QD-OLED depending on the specific variant number.
From the manufacturer's perspective, such a mix makes sense. Samsung can fill gaps in their offering, adapt to panel availability and prices, while also offering QD-OLED where gamers and cinema enthusiasts are most willing to pay extra – specifically in 65 and 77 inches. However, for the user, this means that tests and accurate model designations will be more important than marketing slogans.
Jump in Naming: Again without the Letter "G"
Incidentally, leaks confirm something that has already been talked about before: Samsung will again skip the letter "G" in its annual models. The current OLEDs are S95F, S90F, and S85F, while the parts database already lists S95H, S90H, and S85H. The company pulled a similar stunt a decade ago when it jumped from the F series straight to the H.
For someone who follows the series year after year, it's just a curiosity. But for the average buyer, it could be a bit of chaos: "F" is 2025, "H" is 2026, and there won't be any "G" in between.
For now, just rumours, but from a very reliable source
All of this is still unofficial information, of course. We’re talking about leaks from Samsung's parts database, not a press release. On the other hand, the list of models is very detailed, covering different markets (QE, GQ, TQ) and including various combinations of screen sizes, so it’s hard to ignore.
If confirmed, 2026 could be very interesting for those hunting for larger QD-OLEDs. The current "golden child" in the form of the 65S90F would then have a sibling in the form of the 77S90H, as well as the entire S95H line. How much will Samsung dare to drop the price, and how significantly will they separate QD-OLED from the WOLED S85H? We’ll only find out with the official announcements.
At this moment, this can be treated as a well-documented tidbit from behind the scenes – one of those bits of info worth keeping in mind if you’re planning on a larger Samsung OLED in the coming years.
