The weekend is the perfect time to check out new games without spending any money. Microsoft has once again rolled out its Free Play Days offer, letting players try several buzzed-about releases completely free. They include both major hits and smaller indie titles. Some games are available to all Xbox users, while others require an active Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential subscription. It's a good opportunity to see whether it's worth buying the full versions of these games.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Diablo IV available for free
The biggest draw of this edition of Free Play Days is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The game is free to try for all Xbox users from 2 to 6 July. During the trial players get access to multiplayer and Zombies. You can play on more than 45 maps, including new locations added in the fourth season. Popular game modes such as Team Deathmatch and Domination are also available. The second big release is Diablo IV, which can be tested until 7 July. Blizzard has opened the full campaign with the option to level characters up to level 30. A new season, Death Awakening, also launched during the free period with extra activities and rewards. After the trial ends all progress will be retained if you buy the game. Microsoft is also encouraging players to take advantage of limited-time promotions, with Diablo IV available at a 40 per cent discount. It's one of the most interesting deals for action and RPG fans in recent weeks.
Indie games were also included
The Free Play Days lineup also includes several smaller titles. Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure is available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential subscribers until 5 July. The game lets you explore a mysterious island, build your own base, develop a farm and team up with other players online. Meanwhile, Demonschool and The Stone of Madness can be tried via two-hour trials. The first of those is a tactical RPG featuring demon combat, while the second focuses on stealth and escaping an 18th-century monastery. All the games included in the promotion can then be bought at reduced prices. Achievements and saved progress are also retained. This allows players to seamlessly continue playing after the free period ends. Microsoft regularly runs similar promotions, offering the chance to try new titles at no extra cost.
The new edition of Free Play Days brings several very compelling picks, led by Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Diablo IV. Besides those, players can also try indie games and take advantage of attractive deals on purchasing the full versions. It's a great opportunity to test new titles over the weekend at no extra cost.
