In times when publishers are raising game prices to levels of 80 or even 90 dollars, EA decided to… do nothing. And that’s fine. The company has just reported its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026, which turned out to be better than analysts had expected – 1.3 billion dollars in revenue, which is almost 5% more than anticipated and 3% more than last year. And this is just the beginning.
EA isn’t following in Nintendo’s footsteps. Players can breathe easy
Fans of Battlefield, The Sims and “skate.” can sleep soundly. EA's CEO, Andrew Wilson, clearly stated during a Q&A session with investors that the company does not plan any changes to its pricing policy:
“We are not currently considering any changes regarding pricing, but it’s worth noting that we already offer a very wide range of models depending on the product. From F2P games to premium and deluxe editions – our aim is to cover the entire price spectrum to best meet the needs of players.”
Sounds like PR fluff? Maybe a bit. But if it means that “Battlefield 6” won’t cost $89.99 like some new titles on the Switch, then it’s hard to complain.
Battlefield 6 – EA doesn’t want to scare off with price
This move may be more considered than it seems. Battlefield 6 is their biggest upcoming release and it’s clear that EA wants as many people as possible to jump on board right from the start. A higher price could effectively deter some players, especially after the mixed reception of previous entries in the series.
It should also be noted that EA is balancing different distribution models – alongside traditional releases, we have deluxe editions, F2P games, and the EA Play subscription. So, there’s something (theoretically) good for everyone.
