Apple is once again stirring the pot with a brief announcement lacking specifics. On March 4 at 9:00 AM Eastern Time, there will be an event called “Special Apple Experience.” The company traditionally does not reveal what it will specifically showcase, but industry speculation points to a refresh of the Mac and iPad lines. New configurations of MacBook Pros with more powerful chips and cheaper models aimed at less demanding users are in the mix. Updates to iPads with newer processors are also possible. Everything will be clarified at the beginning of March.
New MacBooks with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips?
The laptop segment is generating the most excitement. According to leaks, Apple may present 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. This is a long-awaited update for users who need more computational power than the basic M5 offers.
There are also speculations about a more affordable MacBook with a chip similar to the A series and a refreshed MacBook Air with the M5 processor. If this information is confirmed, Apple could simultaneously target the premium segment and the market for cheaper laptops.
iPads and a possible budget iPhone
The event may also bring updates to the tablets. There are talks of a base iPad with a newer chip and an iPad Air powered by the M4 chip. The changes may mainly involve the processors, with no major revolution in design. In the background, there are also rumours of the iPhone 17e model, which is a cheaper version of the iPhone with a newer processor and possible support for MagSafe. However, the key factor will be the price – it will determine whether the device actually fills the gap in the offerings.
“Special Apple Experience” is shaping up to be an event focused on refreshing the portfolio, rather than a revolution. The new MacBooks with stronger chips might be the main attraction, but Apple could also simultaneously strengthen the iPad line and the budget segment. March 4 will reveal whether the company is preparing just an evolution or something more.
