Philips OLED901: We know the details of the new OLED TV series for 2026

Calendar 1/22/2026

Specific information has emerged online regarding the first Philips televisions prepared for 2026. We are talking about the OLED901 series, which, at this moment, is generating considerable interest because only two relatively small sizes appear in the listings of the Display Specifications service: 42 and 48 inches. Despite the smaller diagonals, the technical specifications suggest that these are not budget models, but rather equipment for demanding users and gamers.

New processor and "brain" from MediaTek

The biggest change is the shift to a new generation of image processor – Philips P5 Perfect Picture Engine Gen 9. It utilises newer AI algorithms (including Adaptive Intelligence) that are designed to better manage colours and contrast depending on what we are watching. All of this runs on the MediaTek Pentonic 1000 chip, supported by 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of application storage. The whole system operates under the latest Google TV (Android 14).

What about the picture and gaming?

Philips has not spared on the panel. Both models feature OLED panels from LG Display similar to those in the "C" series, which offer:

  • Peak brightness around 1000 nits.

  • Native refresh rate of 120 Hz, which can be "overclocked" to 144 Hz thanks to VRR.

  • Updated Game Bar 2.0 with new features, such as a colour settings assistant and improved minimap zoom.

Ambilight and Powerful Sound

Televisions have traditionally been equipped with the Ambilight 3 system. When it comes to audio, there is a noticeable difference between the sizes:

  • 48-inch version: 4.1 system with a power of up to 70 W.

  • 42-inch version: 2.1 system with a power of 50 W.

In both models, the low frequencies are handled by the built-in SOUNDBAR and Subwoofer at the back of the casing, which should deliver a solid effect without the need to purchase external audio equipment, given the small screen sizes. According to available data, the OLED901 has two HDMI 2.1 ports and two older HDMI 2.0 ports. Which, to be honest, is strange considering that Philips will be using the new MediaTek chipset.

How much does the OLED901 cost?

As for prices, Philips has not yet confirmed them, but one can base assumptions on current models. The predecessor (OLED810) in the size of 42 inches currently costs around 1000 punds so the new 901 series will likely start from a similar price range.
