The premiere of the latest Galaxy S26 Ultra is behind us, and one of the most interesting features of this model is the display that can hide content from people standing nearby. Thanks to a solution developed by Samsung Display, users no longer need to buy and stick additional films to protect their data while using the phone in public places.
Image visible only from the right angle
The technology named Privacy Display (originally Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) by Samsung Display) involves a physical modification of the OLED panel structure in such a way that the light is directed mainly towards the user. The effect in the S26 Ultra is that when looking at the phone at a 45-degree angle, the screen brightness drops by over 96%. If someone tries to peek at your display from a 60-degree angle, they will see practically a black spot, while you – looking straight on – have a perfectly bright and sharp image before your eyes.
Partial Privacy
The feature "Partial Privacy" made the biggest impression on visitors at the MWC26 fair in Barcelona. It allows for the selective hiding of only chosen parts of the screen – for example, just the field with the banking keyboard, while the rest of the display remains visible. The whole thing is based on the new LEAD 2.0™ architecture, which modifies the structure of the Black Matrix inside the OLED panel. The use of this technology in the new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is a gigantic step forward in terms of personal data security.
Lower energy consumption
An important change compared to older solutions is that the privacy protection function can be turned off at any time in the settings. Samsung Display has designed this panel to be not only safer but also more energy-efficient than older displays, which translates to longer battery life in S26 Ultra.
