Apple isn't slowing down. After a quiet end-of-summer launch period, the company from Cupertino is preparing a surprise – and not just one. According to Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter Power On, we may see as many as three new devices as soon as next week – all indications point to the iPad Pro, a refreshed Apple Vision Pro, and a 14-inch MacBook Pro, all based on the Apple M5 chip.
iPad Pro with M5 and 12 GB RAM. Subtle changes, greater power
The new iPad Pro with M5 is set to be a classic example of how Apple raises the bar without changing the product philosophy. From the outside – nearly identical to its predecessor with M4, with one exception: the "iPad Pro" label will disappear from the casing. However, inside, there is much more happening.
The tablet is expected to start with 12 GB RAM, and the new M5 chip offers 12% higher CPU performance and up to 36% better GPU performance compared to M4. Video materials that leaked at the end of September from a Russian tech channel did not reveal any major structural changes, but confirmed that Apple is preparing for evolution, not revolution.
Vision Pro with M5 and the new band. “Space Black” on the horizon
Among the new offerings will be the refreshed Apple Vision Pro. The device is set to receive the M5 chip, and possibly also a new R2 chip, which would be responsible for more accurate tracking of the user’s movements. Apple is also looking to improve the headband – the more ergonomic design is finally expected to enhance comfort during extended use. A “Space Black” variant is also set to join the lineup, which will please those who prefer a more understated aesthetic.
However, it is still uncertain whether Apple will name this model Vision Pro 2, as – according to Gurman – the company has suspended work on a full-fledged successor as well as a lighter Vision Air. The priority now appears to be smart glasses, which are not expected to debut for a few more years.
MacBook Pro 14” with M5. Launch “any day now”?
The latest addition could be the 14-inch MacBook Pro, which – according to Gurman – could hit stores literally at any moment. The new model has no visual or structural changes. Its main (and only) highlight is the M5 chip, which aims to deliver a performance boost with lower energy consumption.
We’ll have to wait for the stronger configurations with the M5 Pro and M5 Max until early 2026. However, Apple is preparing something bigger – the next generation with the M6 chip (2 nm) is expected to bring OLED displays, touch screens, built-in mobile connectivity, and an even slimmer design.
What can we expect this week?
If Gurman is correct – and he rarely is wrong – then Apple might announce these devices before the end of the week. The most likely scenario? Quiet launches on the Apple site, without a separate event.
These aren’t devices that are going to revolutionise the market – but if Apple actually launches M5 in three different categories simultaneously, it could be the beginning of a new phase of integration for the entire ecosystem.
