Samsung is expanding its OLED monitor line with a brand new model Odyssey G50SF – and most importantly, this is the most affordable OLED ever offered by the manufacturer.
The Odyssey G5 series has previously been known for its cheap LCD screens, so the transition to OLED technology is a huge leap in quality – primarily due to perfect blacks, infinite contrast, and precise control over the brightness of each pixel.
BUDGET VERSION OLED
The G50SF model is equipped with a 27-inch QD-OLED panel with a resolution of 1440p, a response time of 0.03 ms, and a refresh rate of up to 180 Hz. The entire surface is covered with a matte anti-reflective coating, and the color range impresses with a coverage of 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and support for HDR10.
However, Samsung has opted out of several features to lower the cost – there's no Smart Hub Tizen system, speakers, or advanced ergonomics (only tilt adjustment is available). The monitor supports AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync, and the user has access to HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 ports.
Prices and Availability
The Odyssey G50SF has already debuted in New Zealand, Taiwan, and China, with prices approximately $570, $450, and $375 USD, respectively. A global premiere is expected soon – and everything indicates that the year 2026 will bring a surge of cheaper OLEDs for gaming.
